It was an odd stoppage and I don't really agree with it.

But, you know, Paulie was ****ing terrible and I'm not sure he deserved to end with with some sort of hollow moral victory in finishing the fight. He says in 50 years time he'll have it on his record and it will always be there.

No, his poor performance will always be the thing that haunts him.

no way should he have stopped it. he probably did it knowing there was only one outcome to the fight

            Legit stoppage.

            Why?

When your trainer tells you,"pick it up this round and show me something or I'll stop this" and you do absolutely nothing.

He had been taking allot of hard clean shots that round and was hunching over every time Ricky landed to the body.

As a fighter I would never , ever quit and know I would be upset with the corner stoppage, but he should have fought for his life if he was interested in finishing the fight.

Pushing McGirt was also very disrespectful, in my opinion. It's not like he didn't warn Paulie.

I think he wanted to punch McGirt, but realised a push to the chest would hurt him more.

I think it was ****** of Mgirt to throw in the towel, it wasn't as if Paulie was taking huge punishment. He could have finished the fight no problem.

i couldnt agree more.......any moron can survive using those tactics....but is it honourable or wise to just survive.....he was so far out of his depth he wanted out..buddy was right to throw in the towel and deny him the respect he didnt deserve.

I personally wouldn't of done it although to be fair Paulie was badly behind on the cards, wasn't doing anything and didn't have the power to change the fight around.

He might of well saved him from anymore unneccessary punishment.

Paulie was in NO danger...they were actually in a clinch when buddy got up to call it off...and they werent in a clinch because paulie was hurt...

he had been hurt earlier in the fight a good 3 times or so...

but with only 5 minutes left and the pace the fight was slowing down to paulie could have easily made it all 12 rounds and i think when you wait THAT LONG in the fight to call it off it should ONLY happen if your fighter is in danger and paulie wasnt.

I personally (if i was in his corner) would have let him finish unless something changed to where he could get hurt.
I agree - let the guy finish - there's no doubt McGirt was making a point and was pissed that Paulie didn't execute his game plan. It would be very surprising to me if McGirt is back in his corner
