If Joe had turned up at one of Roy's press conferences and started 'Calling him out'' Roy would've been like, ''Who are you?''

        Tell that to Tarver.

It's always good to shout a bit; people start to ask: "who is that?"

The point is, if Joe wanted the fight he had to come to the States. He would have also had to move up in weight, but if he didn't want to, he at least needed to fight here to get his name out there, and then when he got the fight he could decide to move up just for Jones Jr.

Am not saying you're wrong Reed, but remember who Joe Calzaghe's promoter was?

Frank would say 'jump', and Joe would say 'How high?'

I think Joe himself admitted that he wouldn't have beaten prime Roy.

And rightfully so. But remember Tarver (as much as I hate him) didn't only do that. He beat all the contenders in his weight class to solidify his spot.

Joe just sat around talking **** facing the David Staries of the world. Every once in a while an old fighter who was shot like Eubank would throw him a bone and he'd beat them but other than that not much. IF the guy really had this fire, he'd have gotten rid of Warren and taken a risk.

It's really pathetic to re-write history like a lot of Joe fans do and say that Joe was chasing Roy the whole time.

And he would have gotten credit for beating guys like Virgil Hill etc. Again he fought Kessler and Lacy. But Lacy was and is worthless (whats his best win, the corpse of Robin Reid?) and Kessler has beaten no one of note. At all. You can say what you want about a guy like Tarver or Harding or Mccallum or Griffin but they competing against the best in GOOD weight classes.

SMW is and always has been a joke. That is a fact. Historically it's always had **** for competition.

And I reiterate: Suddenly thinking Joe is great BECAUSE of the performance against the corpse of Roy is sad.

Maybe he hinted it years ago, but I doubt he would say that now. If he was humble, he would have mentioned it after the fight. Even Tyson gave props to Larry Holmes. Marciano cried after defeating Louis. Larry Holmes pleaded with the ref to stop the fight against Ali.

Joe taunted and shook his ass.

I never read Joe's book so I don't know if he made any comments about Roy...the only thing I remember was after the Tarver (I) loss or maybe it was (II), that Joe said it was the first time Roy looked "Human." I think it was fight one.

I think Joe was quite happy to have Frank Warren...especially after hearing Frank's side to the story. Which I know, he is a promoter, but it is always interesting to hear.

              The Promoter works for you.

yup. that's what I've been saying all along. Joe is a prick. Joe's fans think that he isn't and that he's humble. What a joke, no way these new fans have even watched the fights you're mentioning.

Speaking of which...I think I'm going to start a new thread.

Forgot to mention: Danny Williams after he beat Tyson said Mike isn't the same fighter and hasn't been for a long time and that's why he {Danny} gave himself a chance to win.

                    Yup. Exactly.

                    To quote Tyson:

"He was just awesome in his prime. There's NO WAY I'd have beaten him then...."

THIS IS AFTER HOLMES TRASH TALKED THE **** OUT OF TYSON in the promos leading up to the fight and the press conference. Those comments by Holmes were unprovoked by the way. Tyson destroys Holmes in the ring...then gives Holmes respect and credit. Meanwhile Holmes bashes Tyson some more later on.

Compare this to Joe (Roy YONES is still a good fighta)
