I think he wanted piss off GBP and Oscar for promising a fight and then going for Pac instead. Still bad move cause he needs to fight someone and if he doesnt want to look scared of Mosley hell need to call out PWill and his 4 mills. Risky fight (he already lost to him and Williams now represents a real threat to Tony) that could make him miss his big payday with Cotto II if he loses. But if he fights Williams and wins he will be THE welterweight.

SMART MOVE MARGS! I told everyone that he would not take any offer smaller than 4 mill, and they only offered him 2. And the fight was not scheduled to be on PPV so it was a flat rate. He will wait, AND HOPE, Pwill punishes Phillips in early and impressive fashion. Cause I am sure that 4 mill offer is still on the table. If so, look for the Pwill fight in Feb/March.
