ive posted so many articles on here on this issue
Even these two ounces make a world of difference, seriously, you really got to start boxing yourself before you sound off an opinion like that.

hes actually right guys. they did a study on the gloves thing, it was on *********.

what hes calling for is a 2oz deduction, not anything more dramatic than that. which would actually be very appropriate. very small glove sizes create dangerous knockouts because theres so little padding inbetween the fist, but much larger gloves prolong beatings over time. seriously, what do you think would have caused mor damage...if Taylor had finished off Lacy in the 3rd or 4th rond(which would have probebly been very possibly with slightly smaller gloves) or him taking all the punishment he took for those 12 rounds.

try to think, dont be thick. bigger gloves does not automatically=less brain damage.

i boxed for YEARS dont give me that ****. I did amatuer boxing for a very long time.

And im not saying they dont make a difference cause thats my entire point. But it still provides enough protection for your hands where the transtition would be worth while

Had these gloves been smaller, Lacy might get stopped in the third round instead of being able to survive and instead getting beat up for 12 rounds very very badly.
correct.. thats y there so many Ko's in mma
the gloves are smaller and the ko ratios are higher

if you keep gettin hit with big shots over the course of 12 rounds theres alot more damages done than if ur koed in one..
          kbal is on the money..

With the smaller gloves guys like Andrade will have even worse brain damage than he will have when he retires

i've heard the same thing . . . i guess more study is needed, but overall what i understand it is much more dangerous to sustain 12 rounds of punishment with higher weight gloves then the quicker knockout with lighter gloves.

i also agree it would make for more ko's and better fights, but i think there should be more study before everyone jumps on the bandwagon. but i think 8oz gloves can be better for boxing.

"We found no evidence that an 8-ounce glove would be significantly less safe than a 10-ounce glove in those weight classes," Kizer said. "We did the study. It's good that we did. Now, instead of the commission telling the boxers [in those weight divisions] what they have to wear, we're giving the fighters a little more choice."

The Nevada State Athletic Commission on Thursday amended its rule for glove size, putting Las Vegas into the hunt to land the much-anticipated July 26 bout between welterweight titleholder Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito.

Dr. Joe Estwanik, author of Sports Medicine for the Combat Arts: We're looking into what's called Second-Impact Syndrome. Say somebody gets a head blow, and he's sustained a prior recent head injury—whether in sparring, in a bar fight, in an auto accident—you already have a minor hit that has changed the physiology of the brain, and even if it's not a severe hit, that second impact has a greater than 50% mortality rate.

Jeff Lacy has always been really tough, and Taylor has never been a huge puncher. A good puncher, but not a guy known for his KO power. I also think he let up a little bit because of what happened against Pavlik where he got tired.

I agree with this. Taylor tried to KO Lacy, but coasted home when he started to tire and realized that Lacy takes a good punch.
