And yeah, I watched Zab against Johnson and just kept waiting, and waiting, and waiting for the uppercut to land. I don't recall him landing it once. And you're right, he looks for it entirely too often. You can just tell when he does it, his hands drop, and his legs are planted, and his back is typically against the ropes or he's close to the center of the ring.

Zab's extremely easy to read in the ring.
He definitely has a very good right hand lead, his timing with the punch is superb, deadly accurate too.

Judah has gotten much easier to read now, you can almost see it in his eyes when he wants to catch his opponents with the counter uppercut.

Fantasitic fighter! I'm a big MAB fan too and was pretty upset that he didn't get the decision over Marquez when they fought...you know, with the knockdown not counting and all. I give Marquez his props though for taking it. I've watched it over-and-over and still don't think Marquez won...but that's probably just the MAB fan in me! Either way, that 118-110 score by that one judge was absolute BS!

Anyway, Marquez is one of my favorites right now and I really enjoy watching his fights. His style is great and his ocassional willingness to brawl just makes his fights that much funner to watch. I thought his fight with Casamayor was great actually. Two world-class boxers showing the world how it's done.

Yeah, I think he landed one decent one quite early and it stunned Johnson briefly, hence him trying for it the rest of the fight. He has actually become very easy to read. He has such terrible self confidence that you know he will throw or do particular things in certain specific situations. If he's in trouble, watch out for the loaded uppercut etc etc.

Back to topic. Does anyone have the Jandaeng fight? Or anyone know of someone who does? I lost it a long time ago now, and this thread has made me want to find it again. It was a combination punchers dream watching that fight. The Medina fight is also very nice to watch. It's funny hearing him spoken of back then as a power puncher, that also has some skills.

Give the same respect back to another great fighter and don't post in here unless to appreciate. Good boy.

Juan Manuel Marquez is my favorite fighter. The things he can do just amazes me apart from his heart and determination. His upper body movement...or actually all of his movement is pure skill. The way he throws his combos, upper cuts, right hands, his smarts.

The thing with Zab's is once he hits you with one counter uppercut, he tries to catch you with it for the rest of the fight. It's just not fun to watch anymore because it's basically the only weapon he relies on.

And BennST, you might want to check the "Video Trading Block" forum for that. If it's not there, let me know, and I'll dig around for it.

A great boxer once said "Character is built through an uncomfortable situation or enviorment that tests your Will, Strenght, and your Sprint"

I became a huge JMM fan after his first fight with Pac. Can a situation, or an enviorment, get any more uncomfortable than the one JMM was in? After the first round of fighting he had a broken nose and had been knocked down three time. But his heart and determination, which I respect the most in ANY boxer, went to that corner and regrouped. Re-prioritize, re-build confidence and will, GROW character. A great technician who will brawl at the same time, with anyone/anywhere/any round. I have nothing but respect for Juan Manuel Marquez and he will always be one of my favorite boxer, now and forever.

BTW: Bringer do you know who's quote that is?

And that was Bernard Hopkins, was it not?
