Unbelievable combination, unbelievable that Medina actually got up and kept fighting.

Dude, aside from Hopkins and Frazier, Marco is my top favorite fighter.

Ask anybody here who knows me, I worship the ground that man walks on.

He's Jesus Christ with boxing gloves to me.

I remember that, that combo was sick. He places his punches extremely well.

And I haven't even gotten the chance to talk about his insane straight right hand, whether it's a lead or set up by the jab.

The straight right is the most beautiful punch in boxing in my eyes, and Juan has few equals when it comes to throwing it.

He also has a very good uppercut, he can use it as a lead or end combinations with it, he destroyed Jandaeng with those uppercuts, although a lead uppercut did get him into trouble against Pacquiao in their second fight.

Yeah Marquez's uppercut can be downright beautiful to watch. Sometimes I think he leads with it too much (like the Pac rematch), but it's still amazing to watch.

I think he's second only to Judah in terms of throwing the best uppercut in the sport.

Too bad that's about all Zab can do these days.

The thing with Marquez is that he sometimes overcommits when he leads which is why he has a lot of problems against guys who try to counterpunch him, like Chris John, Freddie Norwood and Julian Wheeler, those guys managed to out counterpunch him because of his tendency to overcommit to his punches when he's on the offensive.

The uppercut is Judah's best punch, he looks for it too much sometimes, he was looking for the counter uppercut all night against Johnson in his last fight but he didn't manage to land 1 major counter uppercut.

Completely agree on the subject of Juan's overcommitment on the lead uppercut. His commits to the lead right hand pretty well too, but nearly always lands it. And when he doesn't, he never has to pay the price too much. But it's a lot harder to lead with an uppercut than a right straight down the middle.

And yeah, I watched Zab against Johnson and just kept waiting, and waiting, and waiting for the uppercut to land. I don't recall him landing it once. And you're right, he looks for it entirely too often. You can just tell when he does it, his hands drop, and his legs are planted, and his back is typically against the ropes or he's close to the center of the ring.

Zab's extremely easy to read in the ring.

Good one Bringer! I think Marquez would have to be one of the most beautiful fighters to watch display his craft. I can his fights over and over and over again. His combinations are just stunning. I think my favourite combination of his would have to be the ending combo he landed on Jandaeng. One of the greatest things I've ever seen landed in boxing. Pure perfection. His uppercut is brilliant too. I think one of the problems with his uppercut and leading with it, is that he is not as fast with it anymore and he telegraphs just the slightest bit now also, instead of using it off a feint which is what he used to be so good at doing earlier.

Anyway, Marquez, one of the great fighters of the modern era. Under-appreciated in nearly every area I think. The draw and controversial loss to Pac will always be a boon to him, sadly, as most think he won the second fight. That's how it goes though. Some unfortunate losses early, actually most of his losses have been rather controversial.

Richloc: Take your petty disdain elsewhere mate. This is an appreciation thread. Appreciate or leave. No one's going to go into a Pac appreciation thread and post gifs and vids of him getting knocked out by two hacks or getting owned by Morales and Marquez are they? Give the same respect back to another great fighter and don't post in here unless to appreciate. Good boy.

I don't do official boxer website memberships. I'm not even on the Hopkins forum.

I come here to deliberately seek out people who stand in disagreement with me, and debate them respectfully.

I don't want to make a thread and have 15 responses of nothing but people agreeing with everything I say.
