    Juan Manuel Marquez appreciation thread

I really like these "appreciation" threads floating around as of late. For the most part, they've been filled with quality posts by quality users, and a genuine outpouring of support and respect for the fighter each thread is about.

So why not do another one?

Juan Manuel Marquez is the real deal. A supremely talented boxing technician, with skill and will to spare. A lot of people think he should've gotten the nod in the rematch with Pacquiao, myself included. Not to mention his heart, determination, and balls. He fought 11 rounds against Pacquiao with a completely shattered nose the first time out. If that's not worthy of respect, I don't know what is.

    Great highlight video here.

I've got major respect for this man. Who else does?

He's the most skillful Mexican fighter since Ricardo Lopez IMO, very good fighter.

My best memory of JMM was just being in awe when he came back after getting the **** pelted out of him in that first round against Pac.

      Another great thread Bringer.

I thot his loss to Chris John was rediculous, while it was a close fight I felt he deserved the win. I was scared leading up to the Casamayor bout because I thot he was gonna be one of those guys who were always "one fight away" from being great cuz he couldnt beat pacquiao and had ****** loses to Freddie Norwood, but the tko over Casamayor really showed he is the real deal along with the Barerra win.

His brother Rafael is also real talented

If that wasn't a supreme display of courage and determination I don't know what is. If Pacquiao shattered my nose and put me on my ass 3 times in a row, I'd throw in the damn towel.

Juan's determination is often overlooked because so many people focus on his extremely insane set of talents.

I'm a huge Barrera fan, and I remember being very sore about that loss, especially with Barrera's knockdown not getting credit. But after watching the fight again with a clear head, it was evident who won it. And that would be Marquez.
