I don't think he has 4 more fights in him. I can see him having one more left, although there's also a mental aspect to it as well. Sometimes it's harder to get yourself up for a fight when you know that your best achievements are behind you. Roy Jones says that he had problems motivating himself for the Tarver fights for example.
It seems that those who went for Marciano's record fell short just before they made it.
Larry Holmes and Dariusz Michalczewski were both 48-0 and lost, and Valuev wasn't far off of it.
No matter who Calzaghe beats, his haters will never give him credit.
He'll be 37 in a couple of months - six years older than Eubank was when Joe won his first title. As someone who watched all his title fights many times over, I can see Joe has slowed down a lot this year. Prime Calzaghe would have KOed the faded version of Roy he fought the other night.
Joe Calzaghe is past his prime and it's time for him to retire. He's 46-0, 21 title defenses, and been champion in two weight classes. Those are excellent achievements.
You can't silence the detractors because nobody discredits Calzaghe's current ability or recent wins... it's about what those in their prime such as Jones or Hopkins would have done against them.
Or people like me, who feel his style (although his performance against Jones was better) is bad for boxing.
