What Does Cotto Have To Do To Beat Maragrito?

Cotto will beat Margarito in the rematch by not thinking about the KO, moving all the time. He needs to punch and move, punch and move. Like a bigger Calderon, if he tries to KO Margo or runs out of gas again RIP Cotto. That's why he needs to train 100 times harder this time and be ready to keep moving for 12 rounds, if he does that Cotto can win a relatively easy desicion, if he doesnt do it, he is gonna get KTFO.
He needs to pot shot his way to a decision and forget that macho bull****.Comment

If Cotto is capable of following a better gameplan than he's more than capable. But the dude's got a lot of pride and he's got the mentality of a guy that likes to inflict pain. I think he could potentially be in denial and not realize that when it comes to that aspect of the game, he met his match.Comment

Agreed, but knowing Cotto do you think he can do that? Right now, with the brutal way he was stopped, Cotto wants blood if you ask me. His whole career he has been lured into brawls, and he usually wins them. This time, he lost bad, and his pride is going to make him want to win a brawl he simply can't win.

Cotto should train with Ivan Calderon and dance his way to a 12 rnd desicion! Nah! he should had learn from his last fight not to trade blows with Margo instead He should hit the body more often and has to make Margo miss constantly!Comment

First let's see if there are any after-effects from the last fight for both fighters.
Second...has it ever occured to anyone that Margarito might be better the second time? I, for one, don't think that was his best performance. What if he improves too?Comment

Irish man, you are way off with this.
Pressuring Margarito is playing into his hands. If the first fight showed you anything it was that Cotto cannot trade with Margarito.
I don't see Marg laying Cotto out, he doesn't have that kind of power, he's an accumulation puncher.
Cotto has to swallow his pride and not be lured into a brawl. He needs to move, NOT fight off the ropes. His camp needs to help him adjust something to make him less susceptible to uppercuts, he's had trouble with them his whole career time to do something about it.
He can, without a doubt, decision Marg. He is capable. But the guy just has too much pride I don't know if I can see Miguel Cotto going in there being like "Ok, I can't knock him out, I have to be smart and pile on the points". He's going to want redemption and he's going to want to knock Tony out which I don't think he can do, and that's what worries me.
Better stamina, better gameplan. Don't trade, pace yourself, circle don't rope-a-dope, you're not good at it.
That is all.Comment

He needs to get at Margarito's body early in the fight somehow so that he slows down in the later rounds. It's pretty much exactly what Margarito did to him. Cotto's fast enough to do it, but he may have to take a few shots to give a few downstairs. He also needs to watch out for uppercuts.Comment
