What Does Cotto Have To Do To Beat Maragrito?

He needs to get at Margarito's body early in the fight somehow so that he slows down in the later rounds. It's pretty much exactly what Margarito did to him. Cotto's fast enough to do it, but he may have to take a few shots to give a few downstairs. He also needs to watch out for uppercuts.

I think we all saw the first round where Cotto WAS going to the body. Obviously, he stopped for a reason...in fact, he HIMSELF told you all this! I don't understand why people think he's just going to walk in and do it the second time around. Working Margarito's body is very, very dangerous.

Second...has it ever occured to anyone that Margarito might be better the second time? I, for one, don't think that was his best performance. What if he improves too?

Margarito isn't gonna be better because his plans against Cotto aren't gonna change... He is gonna chase and destroy, and I don't think Cotto isn't gonna let Margo catch him. How can Margarito be better? He has great conditioning, knows how to cut the ring, hard punches, that's all he needs. Cotto is the one that needs to be better this time.

I agree. But great fighters adjust. It's not going to be easy, but he's got to find a way to do it. This is where I think he needs a new trainer. Evangilista, to me, seems like he's not so much with the "x's and o's" if you will. Cotto needs that against Margarito, he's used to being able to do whatever he wants in the ring, and he can't do that, and Evangilista isn't the type of trainer that's going to cram on film and find a weakness in Margarito. Cotto needs a trainer that's like that, or he needs to learn to do that himself.

I agree...Some people seem to enofce their make-believe game plan...Its doesnt work like that...Cotto didnt get a broken nose for no reason...He stopped going to the body because he was eating leather and Margorito has his elbows tucked to stop that body attack...I understand where you're going with this.

if cotto can find the endurance, he can beat marg easy, but fact is marg never stopped coming, and it takes alot of energy to hold marg off.
