Because I think it would favor him. Margarito can take anything from him with the small gloves but Cotto would take less punishment with the big ones.

I repeat that I have never put a pair of gloves on my hands so maybe I'm overestimating this point.

If there's anyone here who fight, could you explain if the gloves size make such the difference that I think?

From what I saw Cotto can't out-box Margarito, if he can't stop Margarito from coming forward.

Margarito forced Cotto to box to fast to soon. Cotto isn't a guy that can move the entire fight, not with the way he punches. Cotto was able to stand his ground against Mosley for 9 or so rounds, then use his movement to win some of the latter rounds.

Against Margarito, Cotto was moving then landing 3 or so power punches for 6 or so rounds. When he ran out of steam, his defense and punching power was drained to the point that Margarito was going to stop him. He fought Margarito in reverse to the way he has always fought, and that definately wasn't something Cotto was prepared to do. Cotto will not be able to move and throw that many power punches in this fight mostly because he couldn't stop Margarito with those punches. What I mean by stop is that Cotto couldn't stop Margarito from punching back or stop him as in hurt him.

Cotto will have to stand his ground, at least for the early rounds. He may have to do more clinching or somehow find a way to do some body work. If he wants to beat Margarito, he has to change his strategy.

Cotto needs to fight his fight & stick to the body for 4 rounds then box margo the rest of the way & win a descision.

no one wants to see this fight. cotto needs to get his rep back up. he lost to margarito plain and simple. williams or clottey should get margarito since margarito was basically given a gift against clottey and he lost to williams. basically, for cotto to get his rep up, i'm thinking maybe a fight with him and clottey.

What Cotto has to do is keep a high tight guard. He also has to back Margarito up or stay in his chest. And most importantly he HAS to throw body shots. Yes I know Margarito keeps a tight guard on his body but he leaves himself open when he throws his wide punches. Cotto has to wait for his opportunities when Margarito is wide and dig to his body. Clottey hit Margarito with some great body shots when Margarito was throwing his wide shots. Cotto has to time Margarito better. Also he has to hit the treadmill and do a crazy amount of road work to build up his stamina.

he just needs to box more and fight less. he looked like he could have outboxed margs for 12 if he wasnt getting caught as much, which sapped him late on as manny steward so accurately predicted. in the rematch though margs will know he can hurt cotto and will walk through even more to land, i think cottos best chance to beat margs is in the past.

Actually a sure fire way that Cotto could win is if he clinches when Margarito gets in close. I doubt Cotto will do this because he has alot of pride but if he clinches whenever Margarito gets in close and throws punches then Margarito will lose because he cant fall back on his boding skills. Holyfield did it to Tyson and it worked to perfection. Margarito relys on getting in close on his opponent and throwing punches, if his punches are smothered or someone clinches he'll have to rely more on boxing instead of just bulling in and throwing punches.

                  lol.

                  Seriously, lol.

I could have sworn Miguel already tried most of that ****.

lmao wait for his opportunities. You do realize that Tonys style doesn't allow one to be waiting for opportunities?

so basically you are asking Cotto, who mind you wanted the 8oz gloves in the first place or lest we forget, to wear a glove size 1. he doesnt want to 2. has had very limited or no experience using in what will be his most important fight of his career?
