They'd talk about Patterson and Liston being old fighters, the state of the heavyweight division being poor in the 60s, talk about his loss to Frazier at age 29, about Norton being robbed and should have two wins not one over Ali, that he was lucky Foreman gassed because he was losing up to that point, etc.
why do you always have to bring race into everything you type.

Who said Dempsey is not a all time great just because he lost his top spot to other fighters dose not mean he is not a atg anymore.

Speaking of Dempsey did you you that called him a draft dodgers just like they did with Ali.

as for as chad dawson i don't know if he's the best of the division......but beating glengoffe and antonio is certainly on par with beating hopkins and roy.

Sure, I think exposure has a lot to do with it, but I also think there is previously well-founded and now un-founded American superiority complex in regards to the heavier divisions believed by the majority of boxing fans, American or not. These people have grown up watching Americans dominate and history says the same, so they find it very difficult to accept that a European can even be on the same level as an American legend. They have always had to accept that Mexicans are the dominant force in the lower divisions and eventually they will accept that it isn't where you're born that counts, it's what you achieve.

Calzaghe is an alll time great 46-0, when someone who has never lost comes round and defends his title for more than 10 years and beating champions you know there great.

                Sir Joe Calzaghe.

The problem with Calzaghe is that he did too little, too late. He didnt start fighting big American names until he was 35, then after Lacy, he fights Sakio Bika and Peter Manfredo... Not good enough. There's nothing Joe can do to be accepted as an ATG because he did not do enough early in his career.

But I would like to see how Joe woulda done with a different trainer, one who actually boxed.

                      of course he wouldn't.

RJJ, Hopkins, and PBF can't even get any respect. All 3 of them were and still are called overrated by various posters and writings.
