Come on...you can't really consider, on the basis of him handily outpointing and beating up this version of Roy Jones(who was emphatically knocked out 4 years earlier by Tarver and Johnson-guys who never would have lived with Roy in his prime),Joe is a reasonable candidate for ATG status.

I mean it's not like it was difficult to predict what was gonna happen...

I'm seriously worried that he'll get worked over and hurt by Joe-a man not fit to lace his boots in his prime.

Who cares what many boxing fans(a lot of whom are American) think?

Let's use an analogy here: Tyson brutally KO'd Larry Holmes and Michael Spinks fighters who were never, otherwise, KOd in their careers.Does that make him the "greatest" heavyweight of all time How you would judge him overall as a fighter, based on these performances is mostly a subjective mixture of art, science and-yes-emotion....

            Hopkins the racist? I disagree.

RJJ is in the same class as Calzaghe. Both ATG.

I don't consider it on the basis of him beating an old Roy Jones Jr. Don't second guess what I'm saying! What I type is what I mean. I'm not trying to claim that Calzaghe is even as good as Hopkins or Jones Jr, I'm just saying that he's in the same league and I believe the reason he isn't considered to be by many people is because he isn't American. These people find a way to twist every win he has into being meaningless, which just isn't fair. I can't be sure it has anything to do with him not being American, but all I see from the people attacking him is mild xenophobia and rampant, clouded nostalgia. They aren't all American either.

Your point is a good one, but it also serves to illustrate what I'm saying. A very high percentage of people on Boxing Scene consider Mike Tyson an all-time great, despite the fact that he never beat a great. Calzaghe's record is better than Tyson's, yet very few people question Tyson's status as an ATG.

most people wouldn't argue if you call joe great.

                he is a great fighter.

problem is you call him all-time great and he is not.

he is very overrated. i've heard people say he's greatest british fighter. that's not true.

i'm not british and i get insulted when people say he's greater than jimmy wilde or lennox lewis. how do you think americans would react if you try to compare joe to say an ali or robinson.

i often defend joe at times here. he can't help it if he was in a weak division and he really did beat a lot of good fighters but joe is NOT an ATG.

Simply put no. He beat 2 and only 2 great fighters. Those fighters were both in their 40's. Not good enough. And we already have one Marciano, not cutting any more breaks...

Calzaghe overated? My tea nearly came back up!

Every pundit, boxer, coach over here have said Joe Calzaghe is a great even just now Lennox Lewis said he is. "He's tied with me" in his own words from an ATG.

I respect your comments even though i diasgree 100%.
