I saw Roy being interviewed on the Pavlik-Hopkins broadcast. His voice is not too clear nowadays....
I'm seriously worried that he'll get worked over and hurt by Joe-a man not fit to lace his boots in his prime.

I think Calzaghe is probably the most underestimated fighter there is, amongst these forum users. WHich is surprising, considering that every time he's been predicted to lose BIG, against what's thought to be a top level opponent, he pulls off the win and upsets the naysayers.

I'm a Calzaghe fan, personally, just as I'm a fan of many other fighters, but I think I look at him with a much less bias view than the ones that predict a KO win by Jones (is that a farking riot?), and I just don't really see it happening. He (Roy) hasn't jumped in and tried to finish an opponent in awhile...didn't KO Tito, for Christ's sake, even though he was there to be had, FAR more vulnerable than Calzaghe was even in the amature ranks...

Anyway, a TKO (not a KO, that won't happen) win by Jones is possible, but only early in the fight, and only if Roy lets it all hang out, going for broke from the opening bell. Even then, it's highly unlikely. Joe's chin is very solid and the return fire he gives will cause Roy to shut down quickly and start picking his shots, waiting to counter, hoping to sway the judges in the first 7 or 8 rounds before he gasses and has to finish being purely defensive.

That's my take, anyway. I can't see anything else happening, unless Roy does decide to let it all hang out early, doesn't get the TKO win he hopes for and gasses by mid-rounds because he spent too much early and ends up getting TKO'd himself late.

I mean, c'mon, guys...Glencoffe Johnson was able to put leather on Roy fairly consistantly, and you think Calzaghe won't? I know Jones is in better shape now, physically and mentally, than he was in that fight, but I still don't think he'll be able to keep up with Joe's work rate much past mid rounds, and even early he'll lose a round or two.

Calzaghe by decision (by 2 rounds, I think), or late TKO if Roy gasses too badly. Only two ways for this fight to end unless the stars are all aligned in Roy's favor and he catches Joe with just the right combination, gets him hurt, throws some more, and gets a TKO stoppage, BEFORE the 5th. Chances of this are below 15%, half that if Calzaghe chooses to not worry about busting up his hands and sets down on his punches.

                  That is all.

We'll see on the night of the fight.A fighter like Hopkins was able to turn back the years, but he was never KTFO like Jones was twice recently. Also,Jones' game was based on speed and reflexes. He lacks both now.

I'm hoping against hope that Jones somehow wins, but I have the same feeling about this fight as that between Tyson and Lewis...
