As far as I'm concerned the only fight worth Bernard's time right now is a Calzaghe rematch. If he can't land that, it's up to him really. I'll support him no matter who he faces and I'd edge him to wipe the floor with both Kessler and Dawson, probably at the same time too.

I just don't see how Bernard is going to get all fired up to fight a guy like Kessler who has so many tin cans on his record he's starting to make Julio Cesar Chavez turn red.

I don't think it's sudden, he's stated in the past he wants to fight Hopkins.

He said he wouldn't have the spark to fight anybody other than Joe at this point.

And now all of a sudden Mikkel Kessler wants Hopkins? He hasn't mentioned Hopkins name as a possible opponet in his entire professional career until now, and nobody finds this ironic at all?

Kessler....The same guy who's biggest fight is a lopsided loss to Joe Calzaghe? The same guy who's biggest win is Librado "hit me, I'm open!" Andrade?

I'm sorry Joe/Mikkel fans but you've got to call a spade a spade here. Even I acknowledge that Dawson's lame attempts to bait Calzaghe into a fight are unfounded. Surely you can acknowledge that Kessler has no merit whatsoever to even be mentioned alongside Hopkins, let alone fight the man.

And even if Bernard fights him, let's say he wins. What credit does he get? What has Mikkel accomplished since being outclassed by Joe last November? What has he done prior to losing to Joe that of particular intrest?

People will just say Joe ruined Mikkel, and Bernard was feasting on his leftovers.

And if he loses, jesus christ, I guess you can take Hopkins off the ATG list forever. But we all know that wouldn't happen.

This **** is pathetic. I can't believe people actually want to see Bernard fight Mikkel and Joe fight Chad. When Mikkel and Chad are clearly not even worthy of mention alongside Joe or Bernard.
this may be the reason why theres talk of a kess/hop!:

Calzaghe Suggests Kessler-Hopkins But BHop Says Only 'Old Folks Home Wants Me!'
        Michael Marley
        11/9/2008

WBA super middleweight champ Mikkel Kessler was in town to observe Joe Calzaghe’s demolition of Roy Jones at the Garden.
I briefly introduced the Dashing Dane and his promoter, Mogens Palle, to spectator Bernard Hopkins, the Golden Geezer who watched Jones’ swan song from a ringside seat.
“This guy wants to fight you,” I told BHop.
Gripping and grinning, Hopkins handled that line with a self-depracating line that would’ve made Mr. ***** proud.
“Nobody wants me except the old folks home,” Hopkins said.
Little did I know that Joe C. Wales would suggest in his postfight presser victory lap that “Mikkel you should fight Hopkins and I will promote it.”
As the press conference wound down, two fresh-faced boys separately approached Kessler for an autograph.
A second look and it was obvious it was the two sons of Calzaghe.
“I want a rematch with Joe,” Kessler said, laughing. “Maybe I can work on him through his boys.”
Calzaghe had stated earlier on that “I don’t do rematches.”
Kessler was warmly received by the hundreds of Welsh fans who made the pilgrimage to New York and who had witnessed Kessler’s hugely competitive decision loss in Cardiff to the undefeated Joe.
“Kessler is the man at super middleweight,” Calzaghe said. “He’s going to do a lot of great things

In an interview (video) from a few months back. I have little chance of finding it again, though. Maybe someone else remembers it?

I have no reason to lie. Seriously, what would I gain from it?

To be honest it'd be fight of the year material, but do you really think it'll go down?

A kess/hop fight would be boring but it could swing either way, I expect hops to fight jones next to be honest, it seems illogical but could defo happen, I'd pay for it but its going to be a final fight for both, defeat for either would be the final nail in the coffin, so you never know.
