That's a classic sign of age catching up to a fighter, the inability to pull the trigger and Calzaghe was doing a good job of moving his head to slip punches when Jones did try anything significant.

a guy at his age can still throw combinations.

are people saying he cannot put one arm forward, followed by the other arm ?

im from the uk and i still thought jones would get the knockout, which looked likely after he knocked joe down in the first round, and lets not compare this to the hopkins knockdown, joe was hurt bad this time and jones didnt do ****.

he chooses not to, its not a physical thing, its a mental thing and i can only believe its cause he doesnt want to get stopped, more than his desire to actually win.
still, if jones had opened up more id doubt calzaghe would of clowned around so much.

      EXACTLY! Thank u my friend!

Tonight, Jones looked a lot like Pavlik looked against Hopkins, and Lacy did against Calzaghe.

He tried his best, he was simply outclassed.

            Agreed

Jones in his heart thought he was going to win the fight, already in the second round I could tell he couldn't pull the trigger. The later rounds were reminiscent of Ali vs Holmes, sad way to go out for a fighter who before May 5 2004 was untouchable.

Great win for Joe by the way, he did what he had to do and looked amazing at times.

Jones gave everything he had. You should respect him as an American.

Did Hopkins and Kessler manage to hit Calzaghe that much more than Jones?

Yeah, I think Jones sincerely thought he could win the fight but he just couldn't do it.

that was the worst part about it, imagine cotto punching with no authority, mayweathers defense being broken repeatedly, pacman having no killer instinct.

all of these things could one day happen. honestly, seeing fighters fight out of their prime is one of the hardest things to watch in any sport, because they are taking a beating.

It was for me too, I hate seeing old or shot fighters fight, it's just sad to see.

Your crazy. Don't mistake Roy not "being able to pull the trigger" for him not fighting to win.

He gave everything he had left in this fight and I'm extremely proud of Roy.
