i saw the fight but i did not see the countdown untill today and Jack Loew and Pavlik were smurking and talking KO like they new something everybody else did not and maybe you have a point there about them having no plan B

they expected an old man and they never got one as Hopkins said

I don't really buy the bronchitis excuse. Even if it did have some effect I can't really the outcome being much different. Pavlik look energized throughout the fight as he was constantly coming forward and even said after the fight that he was never tired once. The problem was that he couldn't get off due to Hopkins movement.

It's got to be huge blow to one's confidence to lose like that so it's natural to expect excuses in order to explain what went wrong.

            Bronchitis is a poor excuse.

It was obvious that Kelly was gonna lose anyway. I said elsewhere before the fight that Bernard would give Kelly a boxing lesson. The majority of the people here laughed at those of us who predicted it.

Round 2, 1:04 left on the timer. Look at the shot Bernard threw and hit Kelly with. Kelly's legs buckled slightly, that's when he knew he doesn't possess the tools to beat Hopkins, bronchitis or not, and whatever the weight, he cannot beat Hopkins STYLE. Weight class is irrelevant.

eh, Hopkins beat Pavlik up from start to finish, Pavlik didnt even have flashes of good moments. I think its clear that an unsick Pavlik would be clearly outboxed by Hopkins all the same, although he might have givin more effort toward the end of the fight and maybe won 2 rounds or something.

still, disease can mess up a fighter. look at Nelson vs. Fenech 1 and 2. then again, Malaria kicks Bronchitis's ass in the sickness department.

exactly thats all im saying Nard still wins and the guy is an ATG no question about it but can we discuss this without having to keep reiterating to other poster that we still think Hopkins would of won

I've said it before but any version of Hopkins beats any version of Pavlik.

Stylisitically, Hops negates Pav's main strength, his power, by being so elusive. Hopkins didn't stand in front of him, gave him lots of lateral movement, moved away from Pavlik's right. Pavlik just couldn't land.

Why was he so sluggish? Maybe it was weight- he was noticably quicker in the Taylor 1 and Lockett fights than he was in Taylor 2 and Hopkins. Maybe Team Pavlik didn't take Hopkins seriously enough.

But, you know, I just think Bernard is an ATG who had so much more ring savvy and a skill level set than Pavlik. And like I said, Pavlik is one of my curent faves, but he can't hang with an ATG, even an old version of him.
