you are talking about landing punches im talking about throwing them

even if he could not hit the target he just was not throwing period

If you have boxing ability and can take advantage of how slow he can be, you can make him look like garbage. its just the kind of fighter he is.

really, the biggest surprise to me was how alive Hopkins looked. thought that bastard would have been shot by then.
but Pavlik could have shown much more, even if he would have ended up getting the hell countered out of him.
Good post. I wouldn't think just anyone with boxing skills and speed can make him look garbage, but he is always going to be susceptible to those kind of fighters. I do however think he is better at 160. Or maybe Taylor 2 and Hopkins just brought their A-Game and weight was immaterial. We'll see.

And I was amazed by Hopkins too.

In that case, he wasn't throwing because every time he did, Bernard got there first and beat him to the punch, hurting him, and reducing his punch output?

if you think Pavlik looked 100 % then i dont think there is any point talking about it anymore

im not trying to take away from Hopkins win allthough i will probably get accused of it by some moron its just be honest with yourself where was Pavlik at i understand the target was different from what he normally faces etc but he was not throwing punches period even in the first and 2nd round he did nothing i kept thinking in a minute Pavlik is going to start letting it go but he never did i know majority of that was down to B Hop but surely there had to be something wrong with Pavlik maybe the weight was a problem for him i dont know

im glad Hopkins won i expected Pavlik to win cause of Nards age and his lack of activity in the Calzaghe fight

i would not expect an active Pavlik to beat Hopkins having seen that fight but surely it would of been closer had Pavlik turned up albeit he would of still lost, im glad Hopkins won im more of a Hopkins fan than a Pavlik fan i just wanted to get other peoples view on whether Pavlik was not all there that night
hopkins fought a great fight. hopkins himself said this was his best performance EVER. Give pavlik a little slack.

i aint hating on Kelly im just being objective on his performance on the night and saying he was not his normal self the weight did not sit right with him etc

but Nard deserved to win and im glad he did and he would of beat Kelly regardless

I just rewatched a couple middle rounds to refresh my memory...

What I was trying to say previously was that Pavlik was aggressive all night in the sense of trying to impose his will upon Hopkins by constantly applying pressure. If you really look closely at the action you can often see Pavlik trying to get set by squaring up and right before he's about to get off Hopkins would recognize this and disrupt him by throwing out a jab or moving out of the way. Not to mention he was countering the hell out of Pavlik which also had to be discouraging and make him think twice. Even when Pavlik was getting off Hopkins was too elusive to get hit.

I dont think there is any question a healthier pavlik would have at least made the fight more competitive but the result would have still ended with a bhop win. I think even pavlik at 160 and bhop at 160 bhop would still win as hopkins is way to slick for pavlik.
