I used to work at the movies like 5 years ago and we had the WWE PPV live in the cinema. They charged like $25 a ticket and it was always packed out. I remember they use to higher this $100,000 projector to pick up the signal live with a satellite dish on the roof. The movies makes money from the Candy shop from popcorn drinks sales and other confectionery, not from ticket sales.Comment

I think another problem is that people generally want to drink during sporting events and getting an ABC license would likely be a problem. There are some theaters that do serve food and beer, though.
In fact it would probably be crucial to serve drinks in order to make money as the person above me has mentioned.Comment

So i see WWE has went in the right direction with this...I used to work at the movies like 5 years ago and we had the WWE PPV live in the cinema. They charged like $25 a ticket and it was always packed out. I remember they use to higher this $100,000 projector to pick up the signal live with a satellite dish on the roof. Point taken and i agree...i think if alcohol was served at such an event it would do really well...think about at major sporting events from baseball to football to boxing...alcohol is ordered constantly...if this were to take place i really think the money situation wouldnt be hard to overcome...im not very aware of how alochol liscenes work and if there is a special liscene to allow selling of alcohol only as "one time" thing for a specific event...I think another problem is that people generally want to drink during sporting events and getting an ABC license would likely be a problem. There are some theaters that do serve food and beer, though.
In fact it would probably be crucial to serve drinks in order to make money as the person above me has mentioned.
whatever the case may be i think if you combine boxing and alcohol and a movie theater (or a similar venue) its a win, win...Comment

don't know how feasable it would be in now days bussiness climate but would love to be able to pay $10-$15 to watch a ppv. obviously this would benefit ones that don't have cable and people like me who watch ppv streams.
man,be able to bring dij cam and and record.
no drinking allowed but i think they should have smoking section in balcony. and i don't mean just tobac!
at least in california.

i buy ppv's when i can afford them...the last ppv's i've bought (that i can remember) are pavlik v. hopkins, mayorga v. vargas and mosley v.cotto...don't know how feasable it would be in now days bussiness climate but would love to be able to pay $10-$15 to watch a ppv. obviously this would benefit ones that don't have cable and people like me who watch ppv streams.

im going to be purchasing oscar v. pacman.
i dont always have the cash to buy all the ppv's...i mean they are $50 a piece and sometimes it just makes more sense to me to stream online for free...i usually only purchase ppv's when people are coming over (and i refuse to take their money...its a pride thing for me) so i just buy the whole PPV and we watch it...that seems worth buying it...but if im home alone and going to watch it (unless its an ABSOLUTE MUST SEE or a favorite fighter of mine) i just stream it...
so yeah...charging $10-$15 a ticket to watch in theaters would help out those unable to purchase a PPV (money issues) or those who arent 100% ready to commit to spending $50 on a fight that might turn out bogus...Comment

My pops told me back in the day in the 70's early 80's they'd watch the big fights in stadiums. They'd have a huge big screen and everyone would pay a ticket, order beer, hotdogs, popcorn, etc. just like you would at a football/baseball game.
Of course boxing was huge during that time. Probably wouldn't be worth it now since hardly anyone would show up.
yeah beer and watching boxing going hand in hand (for me and all my friends anyways).I think another problem is that people generally want to drink during sporting events and getting an ABC license would likely be a problem. There are some theaters that do serve food and beer, though.

Yea, I voted Good Idea "Italian".
Keep in mind all movie theaters are gonna eventually change though:
