Dempsey had a great defense. But it was a different form of defense that most fight fans cant even see or comprehend today. When you are fighting bare-knuckle or with 3oz gloves your entire approach to defense changes. You don’t have those massive padded blockers in front of your face. Those old school bare-knuckle fighters knew how to fight bare knuckle and were damn good at it. More and more MMA defensive technique looks like old bare-knuckle technique out with the new in with the old.
As to the question at hand I wouls say
Hearns
Louis
Dempsey

COLOR="Navy"]Toney and B-Hop do not fit the definition of "offensive" fighter. Great all atound fighters, yes. Great offensive fighter, no. Duran is a nice pick though. Guy was a whirlwind.[/COLORWhat is a good offense if it don't go with a good defense? Doesn't that NOT make it a good offense. To answer the thread starterz question...you have to look for someone who'd beat the **** out of you and not take much hitz back. That would be
Duran
B-Hop
James Toney
