                Pavlik's loss was worse for several reasons:

                Margarito was a younger fighter
                Cotto won most of the earlier rounds
                Cotto fought more skillfully, landing lots of punches

                  Definitely Pavlik. Cotto was handling Margarito until Margarito got to him. There is definitely hope for Cotto, and he can without a doubt win a rematch if he fights the right fight. Pavlik just got dismantled from start to finish, and there's no reason to think that he would beat B-Hop in a rematch.
