The injury was real, it was reported weeks earlier like BPP said. I just don't understand why people have to continuously make excuses for losing fights. Pavlik's camp said that the elbow injury and the weight had NO impact on the fight whatsoever, the injury was minor, and Kelly wasn't starving himself to make 160. I'm not saying this as a Hopkins fan, I'm saying this as a boxing fan: EXCUSES ARE ****ING DUMB.

Remember when Roy Jones said he lost his 3rd fight with Tarver on purpose cause he didn't want his dad to get all the credit? I mean, I'm a HUGE Roy fan, but that's just weak dude, you don't throw a fight because Daddy didn't hug you enough when you were a kid. YOU went outta your way to contact him, YOU are the one who wanted him there, YOU could have said no, I don't want you in my camp. But you didn't, and when you lost and were scared to let anything go because you didn't want to get KO'd, you had to use THAT?

Like I said, Roy is one of my all time favorites, but that excuse is just the epitome of LAME.

Everyone is saying these are excuses, but we all saw the Kelly Pavlik in there, and that looked like a sickly, lethargic, worn down version of Kelly from the opening bell. I wouldn't be surprised if Kelly really was sick. I wish they'd have postponed this thing, knowing now he had bronchitis,

OF COURSE they are making excuses! and they are a bunch of punks for doing so!
Of course Pavlik looked slow and bad, thats because Bernard Hopkins made him looked that way.
          Tarver made the same excuses
Watch the fight again, Pavlik looked like he always has. The difference is Hopkins wasn't standing there letting him hit him.

This is the WAY you determine if a fighter is being a girly man and making excuses
If after he says something then that is immediately followed by "and I'm not making any excuses"
Then your punk a** is makign excuses!
I don't care if he had the flu or any sickness (which I know he didn't) a 43 year old man should never have been able to beat him down like that!
It simple he got his a** whooped! stop the excuses!

Pavlik was all smiles before the bell, laughing and shadowboxing to the camera as he was getting introduced. Are we now to believe that he was so sick, injured, and bloated that he shouldn't have even fought? If you know about all of that in advance, don't get into a boxing ring. Period.

I guess that was the first fight you have ever watched. Every fighter after a loss makes an excuse. For them finding a reason why is the first step in gaining back their confidence. They may not make the excuse right away, it may take them a week, a month or whatever. They will always end up coming back with a reason why they lost in direct relation to what they didn't do or should have done.

I hate nuthugging, which is why unless Hopkins is about to fight I try not to BUT, it does seem like all his best wins are constantly argued against him...

Tito - "He's a blown up Welterweight": While he was a WW, Tito had successfully moved through to 154 and 160, both of which he was the man at. There wasn't anybody saying before the fight that Tito was too small, they all picked him to win by KO.

Tarver - "He was weight-drained": Might also have been true, but that's his fault for talking and saying he'd be fine before the fight. Now he knows how Roy Jones felt in their first fight, except Roy took off 25 lbs of muscle, while it seemed like Tarver just got fat for Rocky Balboa.

Pavlik - "He wasn't comfortable at 170, he was sick, his elbow was hurt" - Look we know there will ALWAYS be excuses no matter what, but Kelly took a fight against someone who was a high calibur fighter, and one who RUINS fighters.

And in all these cases, I think the haters just HATE to hear "I told you so"

If your fighter isn't close to 100%, then why let him get in the ring? If that truly is the case, they're ****** and should get zero sympathy from anyone.

If anything, that would really go to show how much his team underestimated Hopkins, thinking that a sickly Pavlik could still perform well enough against him not to postpone the fight. Again, sheer ******ity. It's far better to look after the safety of your fighter, even if you have to take criticism from the fans for pushing the fight back, than it is to put your guy in harm's way with a seasoned veteran 10 lbs above his usual fighting weight.

Again, all of this is ****ing ******. If they were really this dumb to begin with, they should shut up and take the loss like mature adults, not like little bitches scrambling for answers. I've got an answer for them - Hopkins beat his ass.

I am not surprised to hear Pavlik was not 100% to be honest. He looked like a shell of himself from early on.

Not to take anything away from Bernard though, he was clearly the superior fighter and would have been even if Pavlik had been 100%.
