Because seriously you guys are killing me on this Tyson ****.
if you want to differentiate between known and loved/adored.

    louis wins.

everyone in america LOVED joe louis. even whites loved him and that was a big thing in the 30's and 40's.

leonard and oscar are the most commercialized NOT loved/adored.

Let's not compare the two. Sure they both have good medals.

      But....

Sugar Ray knocked out his "Trinidad" (Tommy Hearns) and even more became fans.

And then Leonard beat his "Hopkins" (Marvin Hagler) and the cheers became louder.

Not to mention he exacted his revenge on the lightweight king (Roberto Duran) when Oscar never got his against Mosley.

Ray Leonard was on another level. He had the made his statement in the olympics and then followed it up with exclamation points after every big win.

Popular: Right now it's Ali, don't know about his popularity in the 60's/70's.

          Best Known: Ali/Tyson

well we're talking about popularity not greatness. of course leonard is superior. as far as popularity/money/fame oscar is the sugar of his time.

btw......leonard beat hagler? never saw that one. when did they rematch?
