I think it was a combination of him over looking Hopkins, not training properly for the fight and I just think he had a ****ty night. He looked worse than I've ever seen him. Hopkins just fought a brilliant fight. When Hopkins is 100% on like that, it's hard for anybody to beat him. There is no shame in Pavlik losing to a great fighter like Hopkins.Comment

yeah, a lil bit because I do like pavlik. Good news for him is he's still champion so it really doesn't effect what he can do in his upcoming fights. He just needs to look good a couple times coming up and people will forget a bit and be easier on him. I'm sure he can knock out rubio then get a bigger name and knock him out tooComment

I've never been a Pavlik fan really, and was happy as hell that Hopkins beat him (Not cause I hate Kelly, I just love 'Nard), but that look on his face at the end of the fight. It was like 'How did that happen?' and I feel sorry for him.
Although, watching it live I didn't, when I rewatched it I did. I think there are 2 pretty powerful moments at the end, that look on Kellys face, and when Hopkins looks into the press and tears up.
That was the sort of night that no other sport delivers imo.Comment

I saw that look but then saw the look on Hopkins face, that was something that erased any pity I may have felt for pavlik at the time. Let's not forget how badly people and the media have been dogging on old man hopkins the last couple years. He proved all of them wrong with a masterful performance. That's what I'll always remember.
But as that fades a bit and I come back down to earth, I do feel a lil bad for pavlik, but mostly because of how quickly some of his "fans" have turned on him. You're not a fan if you can drop your favorite fighter as soon as he loses. No you're a bandwagon fan. I've been a hops fan through all the ups and downs, and that's how I've been with all fighters. I still got love for Miranda and cant wait to see him fight, even though he may never live up to the hype he received. Boxing isn't always about JUST winning. It's a sport, it's entertainment and so much more.Comment
