I'll try and dig it out. There are several examples during post-fight interviews where Joe stated very clearly he wants Hopkins. This is a LONG time ago. I would have to dig through every Calzaghe fight I have on VHS to find it, but I have no reason to lie. I'm sure there are people here (Calzaghe fans) who will back up my words, too.

PS: Your boy Vic is gonna get schooled.

Hopkins can and did land the right hand on Calzaghe. Steward called it himself, if Hopkins only threw the left hook after the right hand that'd have been a real game changer and IMHO lead to a possible tKO.
The reason Hop didn't throw combos against Joe is because his hands are much faster and his timing better then Pavlik. Hop would have been getting hit a lot more if he were throwing combinations.

maybe. Pavlik and his team believed that they'd see the potshotting Hopkins who would limit his punch output and remain on the defensive for the majority of the fight. It's possible that Hopkins may have been able to potshot Pavlik. we don't know that for sure or not because that's not the Hopkins that showed up.

The Hopkins that showed up for Pavlik, was a combination punching Hopkins. Hopkins has at least 3 different styles... potshotting style, dirtly/mauling style, and boxer style (with combination punching.

Nor does Calzaghe. What he does have is a great ability than anyone I've ever seen to adjust to styles and change his own. So yes, styles do make fights, but many styles make better fights.

Ok bro, we'll have to agree to disagree. What I saw was an exceptional ability to time Hopkins and adjust.
I also saw calzaghe adjust to Hopkins, but not in the way that you believe he did.

            bottom line calzaghe adjusted.

Joe's Dad even thought he lost.

I don't see how anybody in all honesty can be impressed with the way Joe looked in there with Hopkins.

He was slapping with the palm of his gloves and falling-in like a green rookie.

Put Joe in there with Dawson and you'll see just how lite in the ass he is.

When he was in his prime he hid in Wales fighting and sometimes struggling with no-hopers..now he's Jesus to the wimps of the world.

                Don't be ridiculous.

And no, it wasn't an impressive performance, even Joe will say this, but a win is a win and Joe won more rounds. He edged it out in an ugly fight. Get over it already.

                * Damn, the thread ****ter is here again. Everyone vacate, quick! *

wrong. hopkins wasn't throwing combinations because that wasn't the style that he was using in that fight. Hopkins wanted to potshot calzaghe from the get and catch calzaghe coming in like he did when he got the knockdown.

I admit that calzaghe is awkward and has handspeed, but if hopkins throws combinations it would change the fight.

No one is impressed by his performance dip ****, people are impressed that despite looking like ****, he came home with the win, something Pavlik couldn't do. People are impressed that the man Calzaghe was "ducking", was Lacy'd by someone Calzaghe beat.

No one looks good against Hopkins, he's one hell of a fighter,.

Dawson? Now this sounds familar? You're going to label someone else who's going to bust Calzaghe up? and Calzaghe should fight to prove himself? LOL.

imho calzaghe only has 1 style. what's remarkable about calzaghe is that he is able to make all his fights look exactly the same.
