I did criticize him for being to old, I give Zaghe more credit...I still don't think he won though. Rematch req'd.

You are hinting at a triangle theory when you act like Calzaghe would Woop Pavlik for sure now because Hopkins beat him. Calzaghe doesn't fight like Hopkins..he gets hit a whole lot more - often flush, he also doesn't hit as hard. It would be a much different fight, also factor in height, 5'11 - 6'2 1/2
No. I dont think Taylor won. I think Taylor had better rounds than Calzaghe but I dont think he won enough.

So you think Hopkins won? How?

I said Pavlik would be destroyed by Calzaghe before the fight. I still maintain that now. Hopkins winning doesnt change that - perhaps only in the fact that i think Calzaghe would probably shutout Pavlik whereas before I thought Pavlik might do slightly better than Lacy. Calzaghe doesnt get hit flush by slow, one paced, walk forward fighters with no slickness or subtlety like Pavlik.

Pavlik lost but he has still destroyed his share of decent fighters. It would be no Jeff Lacy BS.

One thing is for sure, Joe didn't really beat Hopkins ether, whichever way you spin it.

I will give Calzaghe more Credit than I have in the past though.
I just cant fathom how Pavlic would be completive against Calzaghe !
And his fight last night against Hopkins compounded it for us!
Pavlic just dont fight well against crafty counter punchers, infact he didnt have a clue did he! ?
How could anybody possibly pic him against Calzaghe whos younger/fresher and moves even better then hopkins!?
Pavlic needs to go backdown to Middle and keep his feet on the ground!

"If you think hopkins has got more movement/footwork than Calzaghe then i dont know what your doing here?
Calzaghe would easy work out Pavlic! Anybody with knowledge on both fighters styles can see this!" - Originally Posted by Mrpedigree

His only movement is with his shoulders, side to side, and pulling straight back. Footwork doesn't mean you just move around(go watch some Basketball). It means you always have great foot placement to have exceptional balance, good leverage on your punches, and the ability to step to either side all at the same time; Cal doesn't come close. Guys with good foot work hardly ever walk in to punches or get cuaght squared up(with there feet next to each other). That's why it's so hard knock B-Hop down. The only guy that comes close to his footwork at light heavy would probably be Dawson.

As far as Pavlik, some of you make him sound like he would go out like Manfredo and get smothered by Cal's pitty pats. Pav v.s. Cal comes down to Pavlik's power. If he can hurt Cal he wins if not Cal will get a decision. Probably a little closer then the Kessler fight since Pavlik is more active than Kessler. B-hop, Miranda, and JT couldn't KO Pavlik so neither is Cal if you argue that then you probably agree with Cal's dad and say he'll beat Vladimir, lol. Bottom line is Cal has gotten hit flush by decent fighters so can he take Pav's power or will he out like JT. And don't compare Pav to Lacy. He is a midget Compared to Pac and doesn't have the reach.

            Styles Make Fights

C'mon now my fellow Boxingscene Alumni. I pride myself in knowing I'm a part of something special. Boxingscene.com, is by far the most respected boxing website on the web, so with that being said, let's stop comparing or debating about what Pavlik & Calzaghe would do to eachother. I'm a Yank to the Core, but give credit to where credit is due. Calzaghe outworked B-Hop, point blank. I thought Pavlik would wear down B-Hop, but that wasn't the case. As much as I dislike the record & venues Calzaghe has fought in, he's always came through & outworked his toughest opponents. I'm a Yank from Los Angeles, & have never been a Calzaghe fan, don't even think I spelled it right, but give the man some credit. We all thought Pavlik was gonna win an easy decision, maybe Cal saw something we didnt.

Calz would win by just as large a margin as Bhop did. Sure Calzaghe isn't as elusive as Bhop, so he would leave himself open for punches more than Bhop did.

BUT, also consider that Calzaghe throws in combinations much more than Bhop, AND has better handspeed than Bhop. Seeing as how Pavlik can't counterpunch if his life depended on it, I see Calzaghe having a field day with never ending combinations from all angles like in that video game Killer Instinct.

Pavlik would be too robotic, slow and predictable. His power would be negated by Calzaghe's great chin, speed and movement. It would be Calzaghe/Kessler all over again.

A far better fight would be Pavlik/Abraham.
