I just really dislike Pavlik

I made none of that up myself, his former promoter himself said Joe would pull out of fights!!! Pull out! We all know he is a safety first kinda fighter. IF you get tagged by a 43year old Hopkins you don't get to be undefeated at 36 if you were fighting the best. I can't buy the bad luck excuse. I can't accept someone on the p4p ranking (personally i'll put him no further than top 10 too but not top 3 certainly!) can't throw proper punches. His technique is all wrong and he depends on a slaprate. Plus he's always talking about his own legacy which is a joke. I don't dislike many fighters but this guy i certainly do not like. Pavlik on the other hand is normally quiet, unless he's hyping a fight, goes in there, gets the job done, has had a break with lockett and now a money fight with ol bernard just so he can build a bigger name but he's there to take on challenges, not afraid to move up, like real fighters you know? he could stay at his weight and easily build up over 404852 tittle defenses against finger pointed opposition too you know? ANYONE CAN DO THAT.

And what about Abraham? You accused him of avoiding all challengers etc.?

His former promoter is also in a lawsuit with him and is feeling bitter about the loss of his biggest fighter. He has no one left Khan is the only one in his stable worth looking at and he got KTFO. His own credibilty is going out the window and it suits his agenda to discredit Calzaghe the same way Calzaghe has tried to discredit him.

Since when has the word of a Boxing promoter been Cast Iron truth? Infact it more likely to be a lie.

i cant be arsed going into the deatils - this is a thread about pavlik, there are plenty of calzaghe threads around so if you want to discuss his legacy and career do it there.

frank warren does the same thing when any of his fighters leave him and any who knows boxing could see this coming from a mile off when JC left frank's stable. frank did the same thing before with hatton and tried to discredit him publicly.

you say hes safety first fighter yet calzaghe is one of the few fighters who genuinely loves a good tear up, you say his technique is all wrong well with a record of 46-0 (or something along them lines) hes not doing too bad is he?

The reason so many dislike Pavlik is because he is perceived by so many as an overachiever.

While on his championship run he came out of nowhere and was considered the underdog in every fight.

He is not considered a slugger and he is not considered a boxer, so what exactly is he?

His style alone dictates that he will not be on top for long. He took his share of punches and still takes them in every fight. Now people brag him up when others see this kid as living on borrowed time. He has beaten two of my favorite fighters to get where he is. I could have easily went against him also, but he earned his stripes in my eyes.

I happen to like him as he keeps pushing down the better punchers and better boxers. He has to be doing something right. He earned me as a fan during the Zertuche fight. I cannot explain how he does it, but he has found a way to win each time out so far.

While others get frustrated at watching him living on that borrowed time, I am going to enjoy the ride while it lasts.

i like pavlik but i see him as being a good brawler with heavy hands, he is strong, has good stamina, good power and a willingness to take on everyone which is refreshing these days. however once you look beyond the power punching and hype he desn't seem to be all that in fact after watching him in the first taylor fight i was pretty sure that a clever fighter with good ring smarts would know how to expose him.

i like pavlik for the way that he is outside the ring as well, he is humble and respectul and doesn't chat ****e to build up his fights because he knows that he can let his fists do all the talking. however its the hype bandwagon that follows him that p!sses me off i know its not really his fault, he cant do anything about the networks and promoters turning him into the next 'big white hope'.

However like with all promoter favourites jeff 'the next mike tyson' lacey and amir 'britains answer to sugar ray robinson' khan he will be exposed, an i have a funny feeling that bernard hopkins is the man to do it.

Will he be exposed or just beaten? The way I see it is he is the one that has been exposing others all along.

thats a fair question i suppose - bernard will expose him for what he is, a basic puncher with good fundamentals but not much else. personally i think b-hop enough in him to expose him and beat him, he might run out later on in the fight if pavlik exerts himself on the fight and the tempo of the fight but i think pavlik chose the wrong opponent at the wrong time.

imo he should have taken on abraham, abraham is a clever boxer but not as clever or cunning as b-hop.

but im not complaining as the saying goes - theres never a bad time for a good fight

I don't see anything to not like about Pavlik.

I can understand if you don't like him because he destroyed the myth of Edison Miranda, but otherwise, you're not making sense.

Nah you never choose the wrong opponent for either of them. You either win or lose. If Pavlik loses, he loses. If Hopkins wins, he wins. Neither of them let their careers get dictated by careful maneuvering. Both of them just come to fight and if Pavlik loses it, he just lost to a better fighter.
