For starters, being that Tarver and Johnson have both held world titles recently, makes them both elite, no? Last time i checked, they were still ranked 3 and 4th in the Ring rankings, does that not make them elite?
Secondly, I definitely did not say that they would either beat Joe, but I surely do think that the recent resume's are comparable w/ Dawsons being a shade better. If you want me to elaborate why, just let me know. I can.

Ask anyone here, you have to roll up your sleeves to go toe to toe with me in here. Even my arch enemies will tell ya.*

i see it entirely possible, i mean nobody thought hopkins would be able to floor calzaghe, and i knew he would..not necessarily because hes a power puncher, but because you can't see the punch coming when he leaps out with that straight right..now roy jones has more natural punching ability than hopkins, so if he can prevent calzaghe from properly seeing his right coming, say by doubling up the jab..then he can deffinately get calzaghe into some trouble..but the key will be for him to make calzaghe not anticipate his punches coming

..........and the trash talking begins. To be fair this is the first bit of fighting talk I have heard from either of them. Still, I doubt a 39-year-old roy jones can knock calzaghe out. In all fairness calzaghe seems to have a pretty decent chin. Kessler tested that out with a few good shots. Jones will be dangerous early in the fight, but as the rounds go by, he'll slow. Joe will be there slapping his way to another 12 round UD! Shame this fight isn't happening 5 years back in 2003!

If Roy knocks Calzaghe out, it won't be from a single big punch. It'll be from a combination that lands perfectly and gets Zaggs in a bit of trouble and a flurry from Roy that gets the ref to call it.
And this is Roy's only real chance at a win. He doesn't have the gas to take a decision from Zaggs.
He did get knocked down by Hopkins though so its possible that Roy could knock him out with one punch.

Ok, going by your definition of elite, Jeff lacy held the IBF title as recently as 2006, would you say Lacy is elite? Kessler held the WBA, and WBC titles, would you class him as elite? I would say Kessler is elite yes, but Lacy definately no. But saying that, the version of Lacy who Calzaghe beat was being touted as the next Mike Tyson, and Calzaghe was the huge underdog everybody was expecting to get blown away in the early rounds. At that point in Calzaghe's career, a win over Lacy in my opinion, was much more credible than a win over a past it Johnson. Now you could say that Hopkins was past it and you would be right, but lets not forget Calzaghe is getting on himself and obviously past his best. He has lost his power, weak wristed, and maybe his speed is also starting to go. A difficult win over a guy who is only 5 years older than Calzaghe, and a better boxer than both Johnson and Tarver, is better than a win against a guy who was twelve years older than Dawson, and who he struggled with. I don't think anyone would rate a win over Adamek better than Kessler, neither would they Tarver.

Just my opinion, but Hopkins, Kessler, Lacy >>> Adamek, Johnson, Tarver.

Gotta love that facial expression he gives after he gets punched.
