Bernard did catch Joe with a sweet right, but alot of the knockdown was from balance, and leverage (Hopkins was actually pushing behind the right hand). Watch it again, slomo, and you'll see what I mean.

If Roy catches Joe with a single big punch and knocks him down, he'll get up, recover, and the fight will go on. Joe has a helluva chin and while a massive puncher could probably put him down to say with a single shot, Roy just isn't a huge puncher. Power? Certainly, enough to do the job for most opponents, but Zaggs isn't most opponents. Guy's got a beard. Did you see that punch Mitchell caught him with? Now that was a big ****ing punch. Joe went down, got up (hurt), started throwing while he recovered and hurt Mitchell enough to get a TKO while he was still recovering. No, Roy doesn't want him down, he wants him hurt, with big holes in his defense so he can land more and hurt him worse and get the ref to stop it.

Not only did Hopkins knock Joe Cal down with a flush right hand in the first round

But in the 7th round at the very end of he caught him with another right that almost had him down. Main reason is calzaghe's footwork and those "slaps" he comes in out of control and remains very open for shots. Roy's right in that it's about timing and I bet he can exploit that opening that Joe gives to him..

Roy promised also to KO Trinidad in 4 rounds or less.

It's certainly possible that he knocks him out. It's not like Calzaghe is a defensive genius.

He looked like a master boxer against someone on the level of Lacy but has looked more and more of a workrate horse, scoring points with pitty-pat punches against the better opponents like Kessler and specially Hopkins.

I'm already picking RJJ by UD but a TKO aint impossible.

Hmmm. It's funny how this all gets twisted up. Calzaghe actually almost had Kessler outta there with a body shot until the ref jumped in. Round 8, I think it was? I'd need to watch the fight again to be sure. Regardless, Kessler looked positively shellshocked in the corner between rounds. He had absolutely no idea how to deal with Calzaghe, and it really showed.

I do understand that people don't like Joe Calzaghe, for whatever reason, but to suggest he threw pitty-pat punches against Kessler would be totally incorrect. On the contray, I agree with Manny Steward's commentary when he said "this is beautiful, high-level stuff" regarding the boxing skills both Mikkel and Joe were displaying. It really is quality boxing. I'm not sure how any self-respecting boxing fan can miss that.

Jones is a big puncher. This is a "given". A normal big puncher might knock Calzaghe down , but wouodn't eitherv KO him,or even have him dazed. Where Jones might have an advantage over other big punchers is that he does it so fast, that it would certainly be a punch that Calzaghe wouldn't see. Then a flurry to follow it up........

                Who knows what might happen??

I wouldn't have Tunney, Marciano or Lewis in there, I'd have Tyson # 2 behind Johnson, and I'd have VK a little higher. I'd have Ezzard Charles, and maybe (I said maybe) Rid**** Bowe and definitely Sonny Liston at his best.

                  Just my opinion.

Mayweather didn't catch Hatton in a corner, Maywearher himself was rather sideways to a corner, and sidestepped Hatton, who was rushing in on him, and was caught with a punch, couldn't stop himself and went head first into the corner post, and was concussed.

I doubt if Mayweather's punch by itself KO'd Hatton, he really went heavily into the corner post.

If Roy couldn't stop Felix Trinidad, Anthony Hanshaw and Prnce Badiadigumdrop why do you think he could stop Calzaghe?
