Take Lacy out and Calzaghe still has a better resume in the past three years than both Pavlik and Dawson.

Roy Knocks people out because they never see the punch coming, he is more speed then power. I think a younger Calzaghe hits harder then any version of Roy.

we all know what happened when he got his mind right and gave "a whoopin to montell griffin".
that was becuz montell was givin that bull**** win over roy, which was his first "defeat." roy came out in the rematch to prove a point. m.g. is not the same caliber fighter as j.c., i hate to say. this fight could go either way really, i'm pulling for roy tho........facts are facts tho, j.c. has never been stopped, roy's been KTFO twice, and tarver almost did it again to him. but we'll see...........

yeah, Virgil Hill had his ribs broke by Roy's speed.

How much you wanna bet his idea of a young Roy is the light heavyweight version?

All you guys that think Roy is a big powerpuncher....no, sorry, he's not. He is, however, extremely accurate with his punches, and if you guys know anything about boxing (and I have to wonder whether a few of you do or not), you should know that a fast, perfectly targeted punch with mediocre power is far more likely to give you a KO than a huge power shot just in the general direction of your opponent. Roy was never a big puncher, but he has always been a very accurate puncher, with lightning-fast hands, and was always able to put a punch on target before his opponents even knew it was coming (another big factor in getting a stoppage).

He does NOT have the power that Kessler, Mitchell and others that Calzaghe has faced, but that's not the problem. The problem is that he doesn't take the risk necessary to KO top echelon fighters now because he's lost some of his speed and reflexes and is easier to catch when he takes those risks. And whether Calzaghe is heavy-handed or not (he can be, when he wants), all he'd need to do is put a left hand in the right place on Roy's chin for it to be over quick, and Joe is also very, very accurate.

This all boils down to whether or not Roy will risk trying to KO Zaggs. I don't think he will, but even if he does, and happens to catch Calzaghe with a good shot and put him on his shorts....has anyone seen what happens when Zaggs gets even a little hurt? He turns up the throttle to 110% jumps right in the middle of his opponent's ass. In my opinion, that's much more trouble for Roy than it is for Joe. Roy doesn't have the gas to throw enough to keep Joe off him for long if he really starts throwing.

My opinion...Roy has maybe as much as a 10% to 15% chance of a KO win, and probably a 5% chance of a decision win. Calzaghe has about a 50% + chance of a decision win, and maybe a 25% to 35% chance of a stoppage.

I hope all you guys who are sackswinging off Roy aren't too terribly angry with me after fight night for being right about this, I just don't think I could bear it.

And please remember where you heard this CORRECT prediction. If you make a few bucks because you read this, be sure and drink to me when you're blowing it all on booze and broads.
