Calzaghe is not a pressure fighter as seen by the Hopkins performance.

He's much better playing counter puncher. Pavlik would walk onto his shots all night.

huh? calzaghe was pressuring hopkins all fight with his slaps? that's why he got caught coming in with the right hand from hopkins.

if johnson could pressure dawson and be successful enough to warrant a rematch, calzaghe would probably beat him.

Dawson and Calzaghe are the two best Light Heavyweights in the world. I like to see the best in each division fight. Pavlik should fight Abraham.

I cant really understand why the Yanks havent got behind Chad.
Chin and Pav has a hel of a jab.. so..

I'd much prefer to see Dawson-Calz as it would be great way to end his career, but thats if he actually fight again/gets past Jones.

What makes you think Pavlik has a better chin? I disagree.

Against Joe, Amir Khan would even be safe and sound. Chin is not the issue here.

Char and Kelly are both young and at the top of their game. They will fight eventually as long as both remain on top.

So whats your point? Clearly Calzaghe isnt suited to being a pressure fighter. So how would it be effective against Dawson?

Calzaghe is much more effective when fighters come to him. Hence Pavlik would be an easier fight.

I wouldnt say Pavlik's chin is much better. He was noodle legged against Jermain Talyor - could've been stopped - and Taylor is by no means a big puncher. And he was dropped pretty heavily by Zuniga.

I would say Chad has a better jab and he has more variety coming behind it. Pavlik is a bit predictable with that one-two.

You did not watch the zuniga fight did you? Pavlik was pulling back got clipped, fell on his ass and got right back up. Faster than Joe got up against Bernard. Pavlik was not even stunned by Zuniga.

The only times he has ever been hurt was by Taylor and some other guy early in his carreer that made him wobbly legged.

The Knock down against Zuniga was legit, but Pav was not hurt. The knockdown against McKart was not even a knock down, it was a slip that was ruled incorrectly.

I agree that Dawson is the tougher fight. But Pavlik is more likely to happen. Dawson fights on a different network, and the Hopkins and RJJ fights look to set up the Pavlik-Calzaghe fight.
