I started out with Muay Thai, something I always wanted to do and finally got to do it... its still Muay Thai.

I started sparring a year after I began training, and watched Ramon Dekker's videos (the guy is one of the best kickboxers), and started watching videos of Tyson, Ali, Hagler, Mayweather and eventually Pacquiao (my favourite boxer who is still fighting).

in my personal training I just focus on boxing techniques first before moving to making use of the arsenal of Muay Thai (elbows knees and kicks). But I love to watch boxing fights... I should have got cable TV, so I can keep up to date with the fights.

I always watched boxing with my dad, fights like bowe v holyfield. Then i saw gatti v ward 1, and i started to get more interested but for me the turnin point for my obsession was the destruction of gatti by mayweather...It was poetry!

when i moved out to cali when i was 12. i moved in w/ some friends of my family, long story. anyway, they were a mexican family and Ramon Perez, the father of the family fought on a couple of undercards for a great mexican champ by the name of Jose Becerra - i saw some old clippings of him in his trunks and posing for the camera and the more i asked, the more he'd tell me and i eventually got hooked, big time. since i wasn't his kid, it was weird how close it brought us, to the point that his biological kids started to resent me a bit, well i ultimately became like a son to Ramon and a sibling to his kids. being puerto rican it made the whole pr/mexican rivalry all the more great, w/ a mutual respect that lacks on these boards.

well the more perez told me, the more he remembered, and reminisced and not before long he's getting his entire family together on saturday nights and were all watching the fights together. i'm back in DC now, and just turned 26 and the guys basically my dad so we speak frequently about life, boxing and somehow always make it relative.

          man i miss perez.

well after i learned about his career and becerra, i was introduced to el leon de culiacan and after that, tito.

the greatest fight that we watched together, where we like all lost our heads ... was the barrera/hamed fight, i'll never forget that fight.
