Bruno, Ruddock, Golota, Tua, Mason and Tyson all packed serious wallop and all connected squarely on Lewis's chin. Not so dodgy then.

Of course, he was KOd by McCall (even if the ref did call a premature end to the fight, IMO) and Rahman. But this is heavyweight - the division which has the least tolerance for mistakes. Fail to take a fight seriously (as Lewis occasionally did) and regardless of name or fame you're going down. When Lewis's mind focussed on the re-match, the effects were spectacular. The punch that starched Rahman would have put down a gorilla, let alone Tyson.
Vitali is a good puncher but he's not one of the best. He has heavy punches but not as heavy as say Foreman...and he isn't explosive either.

OMG; I think Vitali is becoming more overrated than Tyson.

I don't even think Ruddock landed one clean shot in their fight. The fight ended quickly.

Lewis was stunned many times in that fight as well against Vitali.

Tua: Tua was fat, past his prime...and he had to try to leap his fat ass up to touch Lewis. Tua was frustrating to watch in that fight. All he did was plod around without throwing most of the time. I don't think he was ever the same fighter after his fight with IKE; not that level. Tua may have landed on decent shot and some of that gets taken away because of Tua's inability to jump high...he was reaching.

    Shot Tyson: similar to Tua.

    Not sure with "Mason."

    Golota ended early as well.

Bruno: I just remember it being a good fight up until Bruno got caught by a big shot from Lewis. Not sure what Bruno was landing cleanly.

Haven't watched these fights in a bit.

Just because you have names on the resume, you have to watch the fight and see where they are at in their career.

Rahman was never known as a devastating puncher. True, heavyweights carry power, including Rahman, and it was a nice punch, but to say that Knocks out anybody is stretching it. Holmes took a much bigger shot from Shavers and he survived.

And speaking of Lewis and Tyson and chin: Lewis was landing bomb after bomb and had trouble taking out the shot version of Tyson.
Does Lewis hit harder than Rahman?

Lewis was hurt bad against McCall. If the fight would have went on there is no question in my mind McCall finishes it within a few seconds.

Lewis's chin is good, but it's not granite.

      Have you seen these fights?

Vitali is not a super-powerful puncher. All evidence points to this.

Tyson would never let himself be beaten by a white boy in his prime.

38 fights. 35 KOs. Granted, it's more a question of names than numbers, but still - those figures stack up against any great HW you care to mention.

        Quite.

          Quite.
He has many knockouts, but few really devastating ones. He is not your typical one-punch knockout artist.
This does not equal me saying that he doesn't punch hard, of course.

You really are big on the size issue; tell that to Fedor.

Tyson's fought guys 6'5, so two more inches isn't that big of a deal...plus, Tyson was known for his body attack in his prime. A big guy like Vitali can wear out from body attacks...he's wide open.

I even think Wlad wears out from body-attacks...which is why he now covers up when in close...look at the two Brewster fights.

Tyson is one of the few guys where you really have to use a timeframe to see and dictate where he was mentally. 81-88 tyson is "prime" tyson, mike tysons punch out tyson, the baddest man on the planet. Everything after that was a slow decline. Headmovement went, footwork, strategy, and then sadly, against mcbride, power and heart.

Tyson had a great chin, great stamina, great footwork and outstanding technique and used his center of gravity so well, his balance was awesome, how many heavyweights these days really have great balance? very few.

Against Vitali, i had to say it, but Vitali DOES NOT LIKE IT when you try to fight him, him and wlad, im dead serious, when you come at him with a vengeance or with combination punching, he looks to clinch, tyson going to the body would be devastating to a guy like that, im not saying vitali is a *****, i am saying that he isnt one of those guys who likes to mix it up inside.

            Tyson ko11

Chris didn't fight Vitali like he did Ike either...not from what I remember (which is kind of foggy; I'll have to get the fights). Chris started to play Winky with Vitali.

Of course IKE put Chris's ass down, but that stuff happens.
you got to remember that vitali improved a lot since the byrd fight. he was was painfully awckward in that and previous fights,,but improved his technique subsequently

Also, I know the likes Vitali has had virtually zero positive coverage in the mainstream media of but has Vitali won twelve World title fights like Iron Mike?
please, people think to much off the height, sam peter beat mcline6.5 and whopped 7 julius long but still got whopped by vitali and wlad.......why because they are skilled.

I wouldn't call it "a lot." That's a stretch. He's awkward because he is tall, heavy, and doesn't have the proper genetic make-up like say some basketball players have.
