Holmes being an older fighter didn't have the iron chin and will to take brutally hard shots, which is fine and understandable, so he got knocked out. You could argue about him going out after and giving Holyfield a good fight, but couple of things:

    1. Holyfield still never hit as hard as Tyson. The point I'm trying to make is that Tyson was weak minded when people could take his shots. He was never stable in his prime anyway. He was a monster, but that monster would be stopped when people could stand up to him. Holmes being an older fighter, couldn't.

Holmes is still a great win for him though, I'm just saying. Holyfield and Lewis would have beaten him Prime for Prime. Same with Ali for that matter, but I was kind of referencing guys.

As for Vitali vs Tyson, I think it's close, but Tyson was incredibly fast and had a good workrate and even though Vitali is tall and awkward as hell, I think Mike gets to him.

People Love to bring up Douglas and anybody after Spinks, which was the last fight Tyson was good. Why? Because he he dismissed what made him Champion the first place. As Floyd Patterson said when asked if he could give Tyson advice (after losing to Douglas): "Remember what got you there"

It is well known that Tyson stopped training properly and prefered partying to boxing.

If you come into a fight unprepared Mentally and Physically you are not going to win. If you are not right Mentally, you are not prepared. Tyson was never prepared after leaving Rooney...that's why people continue to point to Rooney's influence over Tyson. Tyson's motivation while with Roony was to unify the titles; after that, it was basically over; end of the motivation I guess.

I think we may never know how good Tyson really was while with Rooney. Could he have overcome Holyfield and others with Rooney or did it not matter.

I do know this: Tyson did get frustrated in fights, but Rooney would calmy get on him and that round and on Tyson would do better because he listened to everything Rooney said.

Tyson worked on instructions; Rooney was his General.

Tyson's confidence, and this has been talked about, was up and down based on who he was around; he fed off of them.

      Vitali by KO or TKO
lmfao get the **** outta here. who the hell has vitali beat? his resume is far from impressive. he fought a washed up lennox lewis, he fought a slow ass samuel peter.

what makes u think that would KO prime tyson. tyson had a very good chin, speed and power. tyson would throw fast combinations. vitali would throw some slow ass punches and tyson would duck and slide and dodge that slow monster's punches. tyson would easily win with a UD tyson was the undisputed champ. who the **** is vitali. don't ever dare say that again lol.

p.s. wlad's getting ktfo by haye.

Ruddock was a good fighter...even Lennox thought so. Tyson went after Ruddock because he was the top contender; Mike wanted another crack at the title. Ruddock lost once I think when he met Tyson and they went through two brutal fights. Ruddock said Tyson finished him off as a top fighter. He thought he took something away from Tyson as well.

The point with Ruddock is this: Ruddock wasn't scared of Mike and actually talked smack back to Mike. Ruddock threw bombs at Mike and landed clean shots, but Mike kept coming...which rids the arguement that if you punch Tyson hard enough on the chin he folds.

Ruddock also was knocked down and got up and fought back; something people say Tyson doesn't like and will fold...wrong. People need to stop listening to Teddy Atlas; he and Mike were done with each other at 15.

I think after prison he was complete **** mentally so it's not even worth discussing. Mike Tyson didn't come out of jail; a guy named Malik Abdul Aziz did

        Iron Mike ended with Spinks.

        Vitali quit against Chris Byrd.

        • I'm not dismissing Tyson's skills, he obviously was a monster, but he wasn't unbeatable and I think you would have seen him to lose to people with a better will and not to mention that Holyfield was taller and could lean on him. Mike would have done better, but Holyfield still would have won.

Lewis would have beat Tyson because Lewis' jab was fantastic and he would have just been a stylistic nightmare for Tyson.

I think Tyson could struggle with Vitali is because Vitali had a hell of a chin and he was tall. Not to mention Vitali is pretty strong too. **** you are right about Chris Byrd though Hell this might be a battle of "who can last the longest before they quit"

Tyson pulls it away, but I think he could defenietly see some trouble against him.

The point with Ruddock is this: Ruddock wasn't scared of Mike and actually talked smack back to Mike. Ruddock threw bombs at Mike and landed clean shots, but Mike kept coming...which rids the arguement that if you punch Tyson hard enough on the chin he folds.
I guess you are right, but I still don't think what he had what it took mentally to beat people like Holyfield, Lewis, Tyson, Foreman, and all the other heavyweight greats.

I don't think however, that Tyson was all fine, dandy, and focused. He was a time bomb waiting to go off. Even without influenced with King he was still Wild and would have gone down.

But once again, Vitali isn't one of those so who knows.
