The 5'11 Tyson would have a tough time landing anything on the 6'7 Vitali's chin....and if he did land, Vitali would be unphased.
Prime for Prime...Vitali is a nightmare matchup for Tyson
Vitali would destroy him
You forgetting about Tyson's abilities as a body puncher. I don't watch either of the Klitschko brother's because they are both boring as hell, so I don't really know how good a chance Vitali stands.
It would be a really good fight to watch but i dont think you can pick either of them with any degree of certainty really.
One things for sure i dont think Vitali would drop so easily like some of those Tyson opponents in his career, so we would at least get to see some kind of spectacle. I used to get frustrated when Tsyons opponents couldnt take him past the first round. Just as i was getting comfortable in my armchair it was over.
I think Vitali would have a very good chance of beating Tyson but no way would it be that easy. The Tyson Buster Douglas beat. Why not? If Buster could beat Tyson why not Vitali? But Buster fought a great fight that night. I saw it the other day and he was pounding Tyson real bad.
But was Tyson 100% in that fight? I dont think so somehow!
actully i think if prime tyson was able to get inside, it would be tyson's fight. unlike most of the short HW of today, tyson moved his body and had head movement. in orther words he'd fight like a short person. if he did that i think it would be diffculit for tall guys like vitali to land a clean punch on him.

Tyson 85-90 would have Vitali up at night sweating. he was unstoppable ripping left hooks to the body. Vitali all though is tall and his chin is way up there for tyson to touch his body would prime meat and as he leaned over in grief Tyson would fire uppercuts to his chin. Vitali holds his left hand pretty low and even though tyson is the shorter man in his hay day he had a pretty good jab. his foot work was greaqt and his body movement gave him angles at which he could hit you and not be hit. I am talking the Kevin Rooney Cus D Mike not the Team Tyson Mike. he would cripple Vitali and Wlad would probably faint before he even got into the ring....Lefty
Tyson, in his prime in the eighties, before he sacked Rooney and started to neglect his training, was beating guys who were 6'7 and 6'6 in height.
Also, I know the likes Vitali has had virtually zero positive coverage in the mainstream media of but has Vitali won twelve World title fights like Iron Mike?
Vitali would pose a problem for any HW. Thats the basis here.
As for he's chances against a prime Tyson I'd say they would be pretty good. Tyson always had trouble with the tall rangy guys like bonecrusher Smith and Tony Tucker. Tyson often had a fight won before the bell rang. He was soooo intimidating. Best example of this is Michael Spinks who was pale as a blanket when he entered the ring.
I am sure Vitali wouldn't be intimidated, and there is a good chance that he could do what Douglas did. Of course Tyson was on the decline in the Douglas fight and suffered from not having a professional corner and Kevin Rooney as trainer.
A Fighter is in his Prime or in this case I will use "Peak," is when the Fighter is at his Mental and Physical BEST. In this case, Tyson's best days ended the night he beat Spinks. Kevin Rooney prepared Mike Tyson Mentally and Physically for each fight. Tyson was full of confidence with Rooney at his side; without him, he became a mess.
Tyson said it himself: He is better at listening and taking commands than doing what he feels is right. Tyson was a soldier, not a General...which is why I always liked Ali's mind as far as boxing goes. Note: Ali actually got some of his advice from Cus D'amato and so did many other fighters.
Going back to prime/peak: Once a fighter doesn't train the same and has gone back on what made him great, he is no longer in his prime/peak...no matter the age. This is why you can hear people discussing gymnasts that are "has-beens" as young as 16. Talk about a rough sport.
Burn out is big in many sports...Tennis as well.
Oh, and by the way, Vitali is 6'7, yes, he is taller than Mike, but who wasn't?
Tucker was 6'5 with a huge reach and Tyson out-jabbed and out-performed him. Tucker did frustrate Mike through the course of the fight by tying him up, which Rooney got on Tyson about, but I'm not sure Vitali clinches that much. Plus, and you forget, Vitali doesn't move his head much, cuts easily when he gets hit, and keeps his hands down.
I'm not sure who the hell wins, I'll think about it later...
