i welcome all the neg rep.
roy jones is over rated and should have never been #1 p4p, what #1 p4p fighter was still fighting no bodies?
by all means jones was extremely talented but jesus christ, who the **** did he beat?
he beat hopkins and toney 3049853583 years ago, and thats it.
Hopkins
Toney
Eric Lucas
JC Gonzalez
John Ruiz
Antonio Tarver

The thread starter goes a bit far.
In terms of raw natural talent, Jones is the best Ive seen in my lifetime. In terms of opposition, hes very disappointing. He beat Toney and then just seemed to be content taking easy fights on HBO for a large portion of the paycheque.
There are so many people on this forum that think the guy was God though so its hard to really get your view across without being attacked or tagged a "hater".

If he beats Ruiz, then he should've fought Lewis.
If he cleaned out the division but one, he should've fought that one. (LHW)
If he beats the best in the division, he should've cleaned out the division. (Toney)
Your favorite fighter dreams he had Jones' resume. Jones WAS a disappointment because he's probably the most talented fighter ever, hence, should've been the greatest fighter ever. But he's not that far from that.

Words to the wise.... just because a person isn't undefeated, famous or because YOU haven't heard of them does not make them bad fighters. I don't care what any critic on earth says, RJ over his entire career fought some VERY solid professional competition!

Becoming a heavyweight titlist is a great achievement for any fighter who started at Middleweight. Beating John Ruiz is hardly in the same bracket. James Toney did it too (roids or not) so perspective needs to be found.
Surely fighting the best and cleaning out the division should go hand in hand, no?
