In terms of raw natural talent, Jones is the best Ive seen in my lifetime. In terms of opposition, hes very disappointing. He beat Toney and then just seemed to be content taking easy fights on HBO for a large portion of the paycheque.

There are so many people on this forum that think the guy was God though so its hard to really get your view across without being attacked or tagged a "hater".

Your favorite fighter dreams he had Jones' resume. Jones WAS a disappointment because he's probably the most talented fighter ever, hence, should've been the greatest fighter ever. But he's not that far from that.

Shouldnt he be held in such high standards though? He clearly holds himself there and his legion of devoted fans hold him there. So why complain about it?

Becoming a heavyweight titlist is a great achievement for any fighter who started at Middleweight. Beating John Ruiz is hardly in the same bracket. James Toney did it too (roids or not) so perspective needs to be found.

Surely fighting the best and cleaning out the division should go hand in hand, no?

But Roy Jones was more than a very solid fighter. He was majestic. But his opposition wasnt anywhere near that.
