roy jones is over rated and should have never been #1 p4p, what #1 p4p fighter was still fighting no bodies?
by all means jones was extremely talented but jesus christ, who the **** did he beat?
he beat hopkins and toney 3049853583 years ago, and thats it.
you just 19.....so you was born in '88 or '89 depending on your birthdate! Roy was being named the best boxer of the '88 olympics before you was born(again, depending on your birthday) he fought Toney in '94......you were about 6 then.....in other words you haven't been alive long enough to talk **** about Roy!!! Fall back! you should be talkin' about Gamboa or some fresh new cats......leave the old dogs outta ya 2 cents so you wont be on here ownin' ya ***in' self!
But Roy Jones was more than a very solid fighter. He was majestic. But his opposition wasnt anywhere near that.
this is my opinion too.
im not going to reply to every post on this thread to make my point, it wont change anyones mind.
but for the love of god, a win over ruiz is meaningless. like i said there are lightweights that can beat ruiz.
im not saying that the fighters jones fought were complete garbage (some were), but the level jones was on was the top level, but he wasnt fighting on the top level. fighting ruiz (i dont care what weight class you jumped from), is not top level.
toney and bhop at that time were top level, or at least real close to it. how ever since the time those two fights were fought, jones has had no top level fights until calzaghe.
i respect jones' ability, but in my eyes the only wins that truly meant something were bhop and toney.
