never said jones was a bum, just that he milked his way to the top by fighting no bodies; pretty smart move financially!

but then you got people giving jones more credit than guys like pac, when pac is fighting the REAL deals, hes even jumping weight classes to fight DLH, who i might add is 10000000000000000000000000x better than ruiz and toney. even if that fight is just for money, it still shows that pac isnt afraid to step up to the plate and set a new bar for his career.

what ever, think what you want about jones, but it still remains that outside of toney and hopkins (ancient fights), jones never beat anyone.

Tarver did not win the first Jones fight. The fight was one of the clearest to score in the history of the sport, it was 7-5 Jones all day.

A win over Toney when Roy beat him was far more significant than a win over Oscar right now. Toney was the man at 168 and was a top p4p fighter.

In addition to his wins over Hopkins and Toney, Jones beat several top contenders and future or past champions. Just because they looked like bums in their fights against Roy does not mean they were. Guys like Montell Griffin, Virgil Hill, Reggie Johnson, Lou Del Valle, Eric Harding and John Ruiz are very good names to have on your resume. In addition to this the man captured titles from MW right through to HW. You are entitled to your opinion but I think saying this man has "no legacy" is a little ridiculous.

The only person left desireable on his resume is Michealaszki (or whatever his name is) and Calzaghe (but that's being taken care of this Nov)

Becoming a heavyweight titlist is a great achievement for any fighter who started at Middleweight. Beating John Ruiz is hardly in the same bracket. James Toney did it too (roids or not) so perspective needs to be found.

Surely fighting the best and cleaning out the division should go hand in hand, no?
He certainly should be held in such high standard. And he is still a top 20 fighter, top 50 if you don't like him. So he's not top 10, wow.

If you guys dissected others the same way (ahem Dirk), you'd find it easier to dissect those who accomplished less than one who has already an ATG. Threads like these are useless.

If he cleaned out the division but one, he should've fought that one. (LHW)

If he beats the best in the division, he should've cleaned out the division. (Toney)

Your favorite fighter dreams he had Jones' resume. Jones WAS a disappointment because he's probably the most talented fighter ever, hence, should've been the greatest fighter ever. But he's not that far from that.
You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to IMDAZED again.

          **** you speak the truth.

Yeah, except he probably would've been KTFO within a couple rounds.

The fact that fans would even SUGGEST that Jones should've fought Lewis is a testimony to how highly regarded he is and, at the same time, the ridiculous standards he's held to.

Its nothing to do with "not liking him". Thats what i mean about people getting too sensitive when someone dares criticise Jones. And i didnt mention any "others".

Lets try to stay on topic yeh?

All right, lets. The thread starter is a ****ing moron. There is nothing to argue. Jones is a first ballot hall of famer.
