Marquez is in love with Pac.
Juan Diaz Will Not Wait For Marquez, Campbell in The Mix

"JMM is like Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction." Funny ****. JMM looked good against Casa in winnin the title but he can't afford to waste time tunin up imo. He should be targeting nothin but big fights. I wanna see he and Nate unify, but if he's gonna take a sfoft fight then Diaz is right to go after Nate. I don't see how the rematch would be different but Diaz is all heart for wantin it.Comment

Savannah is reading too much of the bull**** on this site from the pac nutthuggers who keep talking **** about Marquez.
Marquez is not waiting for Pac and he just came off a tough fight over Casamyor Carlos Hernandez fight is a good move then fight Diaz or Campbell whomever is there.
The Campbell nuthuggers don't want a Diaz fight, they want a Guzman fight from what they told me.Comment

Just so everyone is crystal clear on this, THERE WILL BE NO GUZMAN FIGHT. It's not going to happen. Not for at least a year or two anyways, after they settle Nate's damages (in full), and after Guzman climbs back up the ratings enough to where it means something.Comment

Hmmm, I was hoping they would hassle for the Marquez fight. That's the best fight at lightweight right now and a big unification fight. That's what Marquez should be going for, and is probably figuring out the logistics of it all at the moment.
I do have a feeling that they're also waiting to see if they can get the Pac rubber match. That is still the biggest fight for Marquez, or anyone around lightweight for that matter, and one which will give him the biggest $ before his retirement, which in all honesty is probably not very far off at all.
Hopefully he doesn't hold off or even pass up on these great fights though. If he can beat Campbell and unify lightweight he goes up there with the greatest of all the Mexican fighters, not that he's far off. That would be huge though.
Pac will probably chase after Hatton though, win or lose to Oscar. It would be the easier fight and would also rake in the $. I can't imagine that Pac's team would want to go for a third fight with Marquez and risk the possibility of losing when they could take a bigger fight with Hatton which, in their eyes at least, would be less risky. The only way this will not happen is if Oscar and Hatton win their next respective bouts and decide on another Super-fight between them. That would of course be the biggest fight possible today, but maybe a bit more risky for Hatton than facing Pac. Depending on what Pac looks like at WW of course.
Marquez needs to get the big fights and get them now though. He is currently one of the most marketable lower weight fighters today and anyone at or around lightweight would be willing to face him. He could basically get any fight he wanted at the moment and taking the Campbell fight would probably prove to be the best choice. He doesn't have much longer in the game at 36 and slowing down as much as he has. He's getting too hittable these days and waiting too long for the big fights could turn out to be a bad move. Also, if he did beat Campbell and had three belts as well as the Ring lightweight belt that would prove a big incentive and give a lot of weight in negotiations. It would be a good move all 'round or him to fight Campbell. The only problem with it is Campbell is a very big, powerful lightweight and that is most definitely not Marquez' best weight. He is way too small and I think he would struggle against a big, solid, skilled lightweight. He looked very small compared to Casa who was never a big lightweight and was nearly always the smaller guy in his fights.Comment

The timeline is good for this one, Campbell is ready to go and Diaz sounds like he's ready to go and Diaz is ranked in the top 15 by the IBF so Campbell won't lose his belt, unless he loses it in the ring.
The best fight in the lightweight division now is JMM vs Campbell though.Last edited by OnePunch; 10-06-2008, 02:34 AM.Comment

The problem with trying to make Campbell-JMM is that Nacho is tied up with Oscar until December, and probably couldnt even start a training camp with JMM for a serious fight until after the holidays. However, if they fought Famoso or someone like that, then Jaime could run that camp just fine without Nacho. (and no disrespect to Famoso is intended. I like Famoso, but honestly I think his best days are behind him)
And I agree, Famoso is a few years past his best now.
Are you guys considering a rematch with Diaz in January and if so would Campbell still be fighting in November or December?Comment

why Would Marquez Make A "good" Move To Fight Hernandez? He's In The Position For Big Fights Right Now. Fighting Diaz Or Campbell Is Way Better. If He Doesn't, He Would Be Doing The Same Thing That Kept His Ass Behind Morales And Barrera All Those Years (when He Had The Similar Opportunity).
