Collins was a very underated as a pro boxer he had a close fight with fight in 1990 against the great Mike McCallum for the WBA middleweight title in which he lost. Ive heard through sources that Jones liked to pick more of his opponents. Collins was a good boxer and i believe would of gave jones alot of problem close fight.
Benn v Jones never came about because of money in my opinion. Both parties wanted mega bucks and thats when negotiations ended. Benn said in a interview after one of his fights forget Eubank forget Collins i want Roy Jones Jnr thats the fight that i want and the world want to see. So Benn did want the fight. Jones in the other hand didnt want benn to get the pay day he deserved i think it was afew million he wanted. I do think Jones would of won the fight on a decision but if benn unleashed a big benn bomb he had that punchers chance of beating jones (look at the mcclellan fight benn was a big underdog to get KO'd). Jones had also never faced a fighter with such devasting punching power and would of been taking a chance.
I would like to thank the person who post this thread (pretty boy1) fantastic thread mate keep it up.
What did steve do to warrant big bucks against Jones. Seems to me that if a guy wants a fight THAT BAD he wouldn't price himself out of a fight.

And make no mistake: Jones would have starched him. He was a brawler. Nothing more.

ALSO a note to the goofy british boxing fans who keep implying jones never faced punchers, are you saying that nigel benn hit harder than a John Ruiz? Just wondering.

Why do you hate British fans so much?

In their respective weight classes, Benn hit much harder than Ruiz. at you thinking Ruiz was anywhere near as dangerous as Benn

Fought and beat Benn and Eubank twice. Something Jones never did. You have no proof he priced himself out. All you've got is Merchant saying he turned down an offer. Which probably came from Jones' mouth.

Do you even realize what a hypocritical idiot you are? And beating Benn and Eubank != being a star that warrants big bucks.

Once again, Jones faught and beat Thulani Maligna who beat Benn. Jones even mentions that Benn was his only real challenger and lost that distinction by losing to Thulani before the Lucas fight.

Again, logic quiz moron: If you WANTED a fight your whole life, if that was your whole reason for boxing, you would NOT price yourself out of it. Ever.

Typical Dirk. Ignoring reality for his British bubble world.

And I thought you weren't going to respond to me any more? LOL.

You didn't change your tampon yet did you? Still crying? I don't hate British fans you biased taint. Hilarious that you try to project your ****** bias, hatred and nationalism on others, I just hate ridiculously ****** comments on boxing, of which you seem to make the most. British people are on the whole pretty cool and laid back seeing as I visit there all the time. Have you been to America? What's your ring experience? LOL.

Ruiz hit harder than Nigel Benn. Ruiz floored iron chinned Holyfield. Ruiz was more dangerous than Benn unless of course you think Benn is more dangerous than Holyfield. End of your ******ed thought process.

Are you still responding to me? Why? I must have REALLY gotten under your skin you internet warrior.

Thanks for backing me up. I was acually losing brain cells trying to understand the idiocracy of this fool. I'm just glad I am not the only one who sees this besides my boy with Corrales on his Av that gets it too.

I cant be bothered with bsrizpac because he contributes nothing to the discussion except lame insults towards people who dont share his opinion.
Okay, Roy was unbeatable. Hence: Never being beaten in his prime. I just hope you shut the **** up after Calzaghe gets his ass whipped. You are the biggest ****in tool on this site. I really want to slap the **** out of you and **** your sister to make you mad. Even if she is ugly.

So, let me get this straight. I'm trying to understand this. Steve Collins lost to Mike McCallum in his prime, but he would have given a prime Jones all kinds of problems? What the F*** are you smoking? I need to know, so I can turn you in.
