Sure, why not? Because they were wrong? All those European journalists didn't recognize Floyd Mayweather when they picked Ricky? And believe me, I write for a Euro rag - they all respected Floyd a great deal.

    That's just ****ing boxing.

You been taking notes off bsrizpac??
I'm not comparing them as fighters...geez, do you even know what an analogy is?

God, you're lost. I'm done. Peace.

        Neither am I.

Im comparing their respective hype and the predictions. And theres no comparison. Most respected British journo's picked Mayweather. And the ones that picked Hatton didnt say he would destroy him.

        Slight difference.

Run along. Your analogies are ****e.

        • We're getting a bit lost here. This isn't a Team USA vs Team UK argument. I personally thought Lacy's power would be to much for Calzaghe and man how wrong I was but I knew Floyd's speed would be to much for Hatton and thats what happened and I live in UK. But just because I picked Lacy that doesn't mean I don't recognise or respect Calzaghe, I just thought Lacy would win (couldn't have been more wrong) and just because I picked Floyd over Hatton that doesn't mean I don't respect and recognise Hatton!

No need for that here. Bet your ass you would not say some **** like that to my face Mr. Keyboard badass.

Conclusion: Bitches say stuff like this when they have lost and have nowhere to turn.

And to recognize means to know when a non-pound for pound fighter is going to lose or win. Stop being such a ****** Yank and learn something .

My point was that America didnt really take notice of Calzaghe until the Lacy fight. Its hardly a farfetched statement.

Benn priced himself out of a fight with Jones later in his career though when he asked for $10m. He'd lost his passion for the sport after McClellan and just wanted a payday. He even admitted he thought he'd lose and would just swing for the KO.
What happened to McClellan actually affected Roy profoundly, if you read Dark Trade by Donald McRae, there is an interview somewhere in there where Jones reveals how Gerald's outcome at the hands of Benn affected him psychologically. Roy Jones and Gerald McClellan where very close friends. You can also tell how Jones' style changed through out the years, he was vicious in the beginning of his career, then after that event caution crept in. It was the beginning of his safety first career.

                    • There wasn't exactly a queue of people wanting to fight Nigel Benn back then. He's a nightmare to fight.
