There wasn't exactly a queue of people wanting to fight Nigel Benn back then. He's a nightmare to fight.

See, the thing is Nigel Benn relatively was never a superb fighter, he certainly didn't match Roy's overall skills but that win against Gerald even after being sent to the floor many times and through the ropes, sent a powerful message back to the American boxing world. Nigel Benn was possesed that night and nothing was going to stop him from winning that night. I don't watch much British boxing, but I did watch that whole fight and there was something about Nigel that was just eerie that night.

Benn did show a lions heart and tremendous will in that fight, it's what blew me away and I knew Gerald was going to pay that night. I will say this, that night Ben could have beaten Jones, Gerald is no sissy and IMO punched harder than Jones.
