you can train to overcome reach.

just like you can compensate for height. or speed.

    doesn't mean it's NOT a disadvantage.

not the Paul Williams fight plzzz....cuz the rematch happened....
Diego Corrales was 5'10 1/2" and Floyd is 5'8", nothing compared to the 1ft difference between Chagaev and Valuev. Plus Diego didn't fight tall and his reach was shorter than Floyd's.

reach is very important. why do you think people always stress it when doing matchups? when matching up 2 boxers they always mention who has the reach advantage or disadvantage.

just because you can overcome that advantage doesn't mean it's not an advantage.
They gave him problems but he overcame it. Look at his peek-a-boo defence, that worked great against Taller guys. Holmes gave him massive troubles with his jab, but he still won

Marciano and Tyson both thought that their short arms and height were actually made into an advantage because when they were able to get inside the opponent's reach, the longer armed, taller opponent cannot do anything but clinch while Marciano and Tyson are able to generate great power from a close distance.

It's the same with Tua except Tua wasn't as good at closing the distance.
Maybe the weight slowed him down...

this goes back to your original statement.

you asked , "Since when was reach a PROBLEM?"

now you say , "They gave him PROBLEMS......."

like i said before just because you overcome a PROBLEM/DISADVANTAGE doesn't mean it wasn't a problem or disadvantage.

                you feel me?

If a fighter as super fast hands like RJJ, does that make it an disadvantage to their opponents.

If a fighter as massive power like Foreman, does that make it an disadvantage to their opponents.

I thought Corrales was only 5'10-5'11 with a short reach, either way he certainly doesn't use his height and reach advantages.
This is correct, Corrales was 5'10.5, not 6'1. Significant difference.

                      I don't fell you.

It's a minor problem, if you can't learn to fight on the inside and complain about reach don't box.
