Miguel Cotto Returns on 2/14, Berto or Clottey Possible

Damn....can't believe he's fighting this caliber already... He should take at least a tune up fight I think he deserves one! I would fight Clottey though since he's not a huge puncher/killer like Berto is... the one thing I would be worreied about is Cotto's mental state. How will he react when pressured, when he gets hit? Does he have questions in himself? I don't think he knows.

yeah arum is pretty smart,he wants to have the rematch but the main goal is to have the undisputed welterweight champion so we don't have to see the same matches over and over again.

They will always be disputed because they are all ducking Willliams.

I dont know about this...if Cotto wants this dangerous of a fight he might as well go back in with Margarito. I think both Clottey and Berto have a good chance against Cotto. Not saying I would pick them over him, but they would have a real shot.

id rather Berto waits a little more getting more experience before stepping in with the top guns until he's fully ready although right now he is ready enough to give any top fighter a run for their money! i give Cotto a lot of credit for wanting to comeback not against some scrub to get his lets just say mojo back but no he wants to come out blazing against top competition! a lot of respect for Cotto for wanting that! i hope he does well i think he is making a horrible choice then wanting to fight Margarito again so soon but hey again i gotta respect that he's not afraid and u know they will put on a show again if it happens!

I think it'll be Berto, Clottey is a bit too risky for a comeback fight.

cotto isnt going to get in the ring for his comeback fight with a really good elite fighter.. people stop hyping up berto he hasnt been tested yet..he will take berto over clottey which would involve less risk because more than likely he would beat berto.. im not sure cotto can beat clottey that would be an extremely difficult fight imo

Ive seen 3 of Clotteys fights and he is Quality, hard chin to crack but he's no Magarito, 1st class Ike Qaurtey style defence, decent power but Miguel has more, and id give Cotto the edge in speed too.
On the whole he is a top class fighter good at everything but lacks that spark, he's a bit basic in there, Cotto's variety and imagination will make the difference i think.

YES!!! People overlook Cotto's problem-solving ability in the ring. It's evident throughout his career.
(not to say Clottey has none, again, I haven't seen enough of him yet to make any judgements)

I THINK HE WOULD BE PRESSURING COTTO ALL NIGHT AND I DONT THINK COTTO DOES WELL WHEN HES GETTING PRESSURED. I SEE THIS FIGHT BEING SIMILAR TO THE COTTO-RITO FIGHT BUT CLOTTEY HAS WAY BETTER DEFENSE & BOXING SKILLS THAN RITO SO HE WOULD GET HIT LESS THAN RITO DID.

You draw that conclusion because of this last performance!?!? If you watch Cotto's last couple fights you might conclude that he comes forward alot, but watch his whole career and you'll see he's ALWAYS walked backwards and counters to win his fights!!!! ALOT - ALOT of fighters PRESSURED him on the start of his matches, and he walks backwards until he breaks them down with his power hooks. Then when they stop pressuring, he moves in for the finish.
The problem this past time is that, UNLIKE all of his other opposition, MARG NEVER backed down, he kept walking through Miguel's bombs. WHO ELSE, besides Marg, can take those kinds of hits and STILL pressure Miguel with DYNAMITE hits?!?!?!

I'm not doubting Clottey, cause I've seen his last fight - which he looked great btw, clips of previous performances, and I see his excellent record.

But Marg was armed with a steel chin, body defense, and bomb hits. My question is: DOES CLOTTEY HAVE THESE THREE?
Steel chin to the point where he's not affected by Cotto's blows? Body defense
to the point Cotto barely lands ANYTHING - AT ALL downstairs with his signature left hook that he ko's everyone with?
Let's give him the benefit of the doubt and say yes for a sec. His record STILL shows 20 out of 35 knockouts. That's 4 ko's in the last 14 fights. I MAY BE WRONG, but that doesn't sound like a KNOCK OUT ARTIST carrying bomb hits.

By all means, I don't mean talk negative about a champ like Clottey, but my point is there's gonna be very few with the formula that beat Cotto - (steel chin for constant pressure+superb body defense+bomb hits).
And Even IF his opposition has these 3, Cotto's career history shows he's likely to adapt.

You Say Clottey has better Strength, Stamina, and a better chin. I wouldn't doubt the chin, and maybe you're even right about the other two as well.
But it's not "strength", "better stamina", or "a better chin" that's gonna stop Cotto SO easily. Cause Cotto's beat lots of people with better chins, better stamina, and more strength in his past.

You talk as if you're 100% sure Clottey will dominate Cotto, but for the sake of your own perspective, don't be so easily swept away by the negative momentum fad against Cotto that's happening while he's down.
