I dont' think Berto will accept the fight right now and he shouldn't.

But it really ****** to put Cotto against Clottey. Styles make fights and Clottey has a very similar style to Margarito in that they both are come forward fighters -pressure fighters.

****** move by Arum. But i guess he wants to make as much a buck as he can with what every Cotto has left. Not even a tune up fight, wow.

I consider myself a Cotto fan but I think Clottey may take this one. I think he'd have a 50/50 shot with Berto. Right now i see it 60/40 on a Clottey win.
Clottey is not a similar fighter to Tony. He picks his shots and has much less of a work-rate. He also slows down as the fight progresses and doesn't come forward nearly as much. He does have similar size but his stamina, heart, and workrate are not in the same league. What he does have is a much better defense and a great left hook which he uses to counter, his chin looks very solid too.

He could lead to problems for Cotto, but I don't think it would be because of the same reasons as Tony. Clottey would not press Cotto into fighting 3 minutes a round for 12 rounds the way Tony does, and Cotto is a great boxer/puncher who could definitely rise to this occasion.

Cotto by UD is my pick, but Clottey is a live underdog.

Under no circumstances should Joshua Clottey be considered as an opponent for a comeback fight for Cotto. I like Cotto very much and I think a back to back loss would be absolutely disastrous for him. Clottey is an elite underrated fighter that you DO NOT chose for a comeback fight. Berto on the other hand is also dangerous but a LOT less experienced than Clottey.

Clottey called out Berto after his fight with Judah. I believe if Berto wins this saturday it'll be him vs. Clottey and what a match up that would be. Talk about a very skillful yet exciting fight.

Berto would make more $$$ fighting Cotto than Clottey imo..

Berto has enough power, but not enough skill to handle Cotto. I think that's actaually a credible option for Cotto now. He damn well better not use Clottey as a comeback opponent. That was alreday a loseable fight for Cotto before the Marg beatdown. I wouldn't be surprised to see Clottey stop him if he faced him next.

agreed......sooner or later tensions will rise again and it'll boil over easier than the 1st time

i know Clottey is risky but i think Berto has everything to present Cotto with more than he's bargaining for.........if I was promoting his comeback fight that def wouldnt be the 1st guy on the menu

I think Berto is an easier fight than Clottey, suspect defense, suspect chin, not too much power, he's got speed going for him though.

Somehow most of us have forgotten to a certain degree that Cotto was a terrific body puncher...

Ever since Mosley/Gomez, Cotto (and MANY of us) believed he was a good boxer. And he is, but somehow the bodywork that made him famous was inexplicably overlooked and his boxing skills...overestimated.

Clottey sounds dangerous. What are his losses?

Baldomir disqualification (don't remember why, though)
Antonio Margarito (Decision he would've won had he not injured his hand)

                      That's it!

He's a TOUGH fighter! But that high guard he uses I would hope to be the flaw in his body defense.

By the way, so now that Cotto's got an almost sure opponent for February, is Arum still thinking about putting Cotto in with Margarito again (out of curiosity)?
