This is a good opponent, I have no problems with Monte Barrett for a first heavyweight fight. He has fought a lot of top guys and been very competitive against everyone except for Wlad Klitschko. You will all recall he was the first one to expose Dominik Guinn, and in many ways he exposed Joe Mesi as well, plus there was of course the brutal exposing of Tye Fields.

This is going to give us an immediate idea as to whether or not Haye has the type of heavyweight potential that a lot of people (myself included) think he does.

Beating Monte Barrett will only prove that Haye is better than Tye Fields. Consider me unimpressed that it took him so long to finally fight a fringe contender several years past his prime.

Especially after he spent the past few months trashing Barrett everytime his name came up.

Don't think Chambers fight was gonna happen and neither was Thompson. Barrett is more respectable fight then JD Chapman. Yo tell me if you disagree on that. Haye KO Barrett I'd say early, move on to Dimitrenko! Dog I wanna see that, WBO eliminator Haye and Dimitrenko be a good fight.

                  Would of preferred chambers..

At least now he might actually have a fight.

Haye vs Monte is a good fight, I never believed he would go for Chambers bc that's a 12rds fight and Chambers is a skilled fast defensive boxer who could steal a points victory there, his defensive guard is very hard to crack. Haye is not interested in a tough, hard, long excruciating fight, he wants something he can end fast and look good.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves bc till the fight is signed there is a lot that could change. We even might hear the name of KJ and Chapman back in the mix, they probably still are, and I believe the money for this fight will end up in the vicinity of US$ 500k, whoever ends up signing. Otherwise Haye will just fight a journeyman.
