alright. I am a straight up Hatton fan, no doubt. But I'll give ya'll the long and short of what I think.
Ricky lsot to FLoyd because he didn't prepare right and because he is reckless with throwing that left hook at ****** angles with his right down. that is a big no no. When he got ko'd he was throwing a left hook from a perfect angle to throw a lead right and while throwing it he dropped his right. That is ******. The force of the punch couplep with how quickly he was moving in, followed by hitting a ring post at full force is one hell of a blow. Floyd hits harder than people think. Cortez didn't make the fight easier but Ricky was hosed with his gameplan, period.
So we question his chin now. Lazcano cracked him a few times, but look at Lazcano's KO record. I don't know it off the top of my head but I swear he had a higher percentage of victories by KO than Hatton. a lightweight, yes but his power is far superior to Paulie's at 140. No question.
So, Floyd will work on throwing more lead rights and using the left hook only when in position. Guaranteed. Ricky IMO has one of the best lead rights in the business. Floyd SR will then work on keeping that right hand up when throwing the left hook. This will lead to more combos from Ricky. Next, Sr will work on having Ricky give himself more room to work. If Hatton had backed off on Lazcano by a half step when he had him on ***** street, Lazcano would have been out of there. Ricky had about a half dozen GOOD chances to knock Juan out and didn't score on any of them.
So basically, those three things coupled with Paulie's lack of power will result in a 118-100 UD or a mid to late stoppage.
