makes it hard to judge. you can say its stance or balance i guess so does that affect chin?
    I don't know, that's a good question

MCall was insane. I dont think Ive ever even seen him hurt by a punch, despite the big punchers hes been in with...and at the same time he would gently poke people with his punches and they would be out cold.

no. hagler is an atg because he was the complete package as far as skills and his resume is top notch.

hagler had a great chin and very good power but i wouldn't say it was great power.

chin/power combo. best chin and best power.

doesn't say anything about great or mediocre fighter or skills.

tua's career was mediocre compared to expectations. he had a very good career though. very tough fighter. great power/chin combo.

that's why I always put him #1 in this category. if this guy had his wits about him and had a good trainer, he'd be almost unbeatable.

Ive heard that he practically never trained, and was almost always on a ton of drugs before all his fights. physically he was just a tank. a damn waste, really.

its a shame he fought Gomez and lost his title shot against Peter. honestly, McCall had a pretty damn good chance, even tho he was 40 or somethin. McCall was near indestructable, and Peter isnt exactly very skilled...and then seeing him get dropped like that against McCline...
McCall could have actually won that fight, just because of the style matchup.

i dont think being down counts as having a bad chin tho. flash knockdowns and getting caught off balance happens

Marciano should have been mentioned more. I haven't seen anyone mention Ray Mercer. Lets not forget about Dempsey. A good pick is Langford. Also Jeffries. Sugar Ray Leonard. Mayorga comes to mind for modern fighters. And so on.

                    Great thread!

it's about skills not greatness or popularity.

people are naming guys with good power and great chin that were atg or great chin and good power that were atg.

we are suppose to name great power and great chin...... even if it's on mediocre fighters.
I see what you mean Tua, but the reason for that is because those ATG faced legends and beat them as well. So their attributes were truly proven in the biggest way. That's what I believe is the reason.

In this instance, he's actually got a good point. I think Big George and Vitali Klitschko are two of the better choices in regards to this criteria.

Incidentally....have I been spelling Klitchko's name wrong all this time? Is it really Klitschko?
