Floyd Sr is a pretty experienced guy. I don't know who else works with Guzman, but surely they saw this coming some time ago?
Nate Campbell vs. Joan Guzman is Still in Doubt

The most famous (infamous that is) I remember is Joey Gamache vs. Arturo Gatti. Both weighed in at the agreed upon limit of 141. By fight-time Gamache was 144 and Gatti a whopping 160 lbs!
Gamache got a severe trashing and braindamage in that fight. He never fought again.Comment

Another example of forced, unnatural weight drain??
Guzman is 5' 7" and only average build. Maybe he has very dense bones. His weight has always jumped around quite a bit, almost from fight to fight. In 199 he fought at 131, and a couple of months earlier he was 122. sounds like another Ricky Hatton, but with "hiccups", since Hatton almays makes the weight.
He fought at just 121 in 2005.
So maybe either he hasn't trained- which is hard to believe when facing a guy like Campbell- or his body has refused to perform.Comment

What? You cannot be serious. Everyone wants to see a fair fight and its Guzman's fault that he couldn't make the weight in the first place. This is an important fight and he should have been more responsible and kept track of his weight. They are suppose to be the same size, thats why weight classes are made. Nate actually wants to fight, team Guzman is thinking about calling it off and that would be smart at this point, we don't want nothing bad to happen to him.Last edited by slicksouthpaw16; 09-13-2008, 03:59 PM.Comment
