that'd be an interesting scenario as sometimes rematch clauses are in fight contracts .. but do the same rules apply if the fighter fails to make weight and title belts not on the line? interesting case

agree completely on the fines and suspensions for failing to make weight. and plus fighters would take it much more serious, if they couldn't fight for a title belt for 6 months.

That is the thing... whatever rematch cause in place would be voided due to Guzman violating the contract.

I don't think that King would be ok with a rematch unless there is massive concessions.

I had high hopes for Guzman of being an elite fighter and possible becoming great and honesty, it could still happen. But that was not smart on his part at all. He is no ''spring chicken'' himself and this incident just cost him a title shot and set him back. Think about it people, if your future and legacy is on the line and you just vacated your title at the lower weight class( burning the bridges behind you), wouldn't you try your damn best to at least make the weight? I personally felt that Nate was and STILL is going to knock him back down to super featherweight, but this certainly didn't help him.

I checked the odds on my online sportsbook, and amazingly, Campbell went UP from +170 to +190. If Guzman makes weight he'll have a lot against him, so I got down on Campbell.

Guzman couldnt make weight, WHAT? After all the running and show boating he does in the ring he couldnt make 135lb. An opportunity lost, a chance to earn 3 not 1 but 3 titles at once.

not able to make the weight is a sign of lack of self discipline, if you are a fighter scheduled to fight with in weeks, you should know and always monitor your weight and should not rely on others to look into it for you....like bobby pacquiao who blamed everyone for him not making the 130 lbs limit when he fought velasquez and eventually got DQ for several blow blow este low blow...a very lame excuse for a professional boxer who has fought more than 30x....
